Is there a performance chip available for the 8.1-liter Chevy Vortec engine? Do they work /help? I'm interested in better performance as well as increased gas mileage. I'm currently getting around 7.5 mpg and performance is ok, but I'm not towing a toad, yet. I figure mileage will go down by a couple mpg when I do. What kind of cost am I looking at for a chip if they're available?

How do I know if I damaged the electric water heating elements and what do I do if I have? Will it affect the gas heating of the hot water heater?
