  1. Morning Jim, Even outboard motors and out drives have anode plates on them. Electrolysis will attact and eat away the softest metals even steel and especially aluminum. The anode is zinc and it will be the metal effected by electrolysis. If you pull an anode after a year in a hot water unit you will see it very pitted. That is what happens to metals in water. Stainless will be the least effected while zinc will be the most effected by electrolysis. The reason most manufacturers don't install them is cost per unit. (I also think it prolongs the life of a unit too much) Herman
  2. islandboy, Welcome to the Forum. Bud, we need a bit more information. Make, year and model of your coach and what make of heater do you have. With this information folks with the same unit can advise you. Herman
  3. Arowsley, Welcome to the Forum. Give "Rv Glass Solutions"s call. They can get glass for most anything with a windshield. Herman
  4. Dudley, My preference is a Blue Ox tow bar and base plate. With a M & G air brake. Herman
  5. PhxRainey, If you are looking for a Diesel Pusher under 40 foot try "Motor Homes of Texas". At present time they have 41 pre-owned diesel pusher listed. Of that 13 are under 40 foot. As an example they have a 2005 Fleetwood Discovery 39L with a 330 Cat., 40 K miles and 4 slides, they also have an 2011 Forest River Berkshire 38 footer with a 340 Cummins, 18 K miles and 3 slides. They have several Fourtravels, Monacos to name a few. Give them a look at www.motorhomesoftexas.com . You might check out www.mrolivers.com I am not sure what he has but give him a look. Hope these help. Keep looking you will find the one for you. Then come back here and join the FMCA family. Herman
  6. Roland, Contact Fleetwood tech. dept. and ask for the alignment specifications. Give them to the shop where you plan on having your coach aligned. Herman
  7. David, Yes and no. Other then the difference between an Operator's and a CDL License most officers have no clue as to which is required. This is not a slap at any law officer. Thank goodness we have them. The same for most insurance agents and RV sales people. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Herman
  8. My 02 Dynasty has a Jake brake. It will not function with the cruise control on. In most cases people will hit their brake when the brake is needed. To activate my Jake Brake I have a button on the floor on the left side of the steering column. When I push the button with my foot it retards the transmission to second gear and holds it there till I release the button. Unit works well every time. Herman
  9. Wayne, There was an all you can eat restaurant next to the Battle Ship Texas, I believe called the San Jacinta Inn. Linchburg Crossing was further down right at where the Ferry crossed the ship channel. It was a white clapboard building up on pilings with a wide front entry. It had 4 menus, one on each wall with red and white checkered tablecloths. Herman
  10. Ray, You and Hana have a safe trip south. Herman
  11. Wayne, Some of the best Sea Food in your area years ago was at a place called "Linchburg Crossing" until it burned and rebuilt. I don't even know if is even still there, it's been since the seventies since I was last there. Brett, it wont be long before the Christmas Lights Regatta in Clear Lake. Bob Taylor, a customer of mine was Grand Marshal for several years. Thanks to all for a nice trip down Memory Lane. Herman
  12. Wayne, Know Kemah well. Used to go there when the biggest thing there was Jimmy Walkers and the bridge was two lanes. Really changed in the last 40 years. A bit of trivia. In Louisiana there is a small chain of restaurants called Don'S Seafood. Lafayette is the home of Don's. One of Don's sons decided that he wanted to venture out on this own and started his own restaurant. He built a nice chain himself but decided to sell and go back with the family so he sold his chain better known as "Landry's. His father was, "Don Landry". Herman
  13. Home on Wheels. Our coach was out of commission from the last of September till last week. We had to go the ths Six-State Rally and stay in a Motel. I don't know how many time in those 11 days I said, " Yes I have that in the coach, wait I'm not here with the coach." Life with the coach on the road is so nice and convient, you have everything you need with in an arms length. The coach is back in the Garage. Had to have the radiator recored. $$$$$$. Now in the process of installing the new Samsung Refrigerator. I will write about that in a new post as soon as "my three sons" are here at Thanksgiving to help carry it into the coach. If I don't get the chance, May each of you have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Herman
  14. David and Linda, Welcome to FMCA and to the Forum. My wife Bobbie and I are also from Texas. We are members of several chapters with Lone Star being, what we call our Home Chapter. Lone Star is having a rally Dec 3-4-5 at the Lake Conroe KOA. We would like to invite you and Linda to join us. If you would like more information about our rally and Lone Star, send me a Personal Message and I will get you all the information. Again Welcome Herman Mullins South Central Area (Six-State Rally Association) Southern Region VP
  15. John, Check this site. enginnershandbook.com/tables/torque Herman
  16. Lyle, To check if it may be the batteries try using a jumper cable to your car or truck. With the vehicle engine running try the slide in and out. But since you are all set for the winter (snowbird) and wont be needing to move the slide till spring I would just wait till then buy a new set of Batteries and try the slide then. If it turns out to be the Batteries then you will be ready to travel back North. Of course the slide may know there is no big rush for the bed room so it is just going with the flow. Herman
  17. Jim, What has Atwood said? They should be your best source of information. Herman
  18. chp007kd40, Go get your coach. pay what ever is owed to CW on your credit card. Take your coach home and when you get your credit card bill put the charge under protest. At that point CW will have to prove that the service was preformed. Once you have your coach back you can have an attorney fight with CW and your Insurance Co. Then go and find a shop that will tell you which items they can repair and which they can't. It is very possible that you may have to go to more then one shop to have all the work done. It amazes me that Camping World hasn't stepped up and tried to make your situation right. They have lost a lot more in negative advertising then they can regain anytime soon. CW is a good place to buy RV trinkets, not a place to have an RV repaired. Most folks don't go to a beauty shop to have their oil changed, neither should a RVer got to souvenir shop to have a RV repaired. Herman
  19. Jim, Welcome to the Forum. Pumps can fail. Given the choice between a pump and a drive shaft disconnect I would go with the disconnect. Herman
  20. Carl, The M & G supplemental Braking system works best when you have Air Brakes on your coach. However they do make a unit for Hydraulic Brakes but it requires an air pump which comes with the unit. The reason some vehicles can't use the M & G unit is a space problem under the hood in the towed vehicle. The actuator is a cylinder that goes between the Power Brake Booster and the Master Cylinder. If there isn't room for the Master Cylinder to move forward approx. 4" then they don't have a unit that will work. Lloyd's theory on his unit is that the pressure is applied directly to the Master Cylinder and not to the Booster. He ask, have you ever tried to stop a vehicle with power brakes with the engine off. It takes quite a lot of force. M & G unfortunately can't make a unit for ever vehicle but it works great for the ones it does. Herman
  21. dc, As a lot will tell you I vote for M & G for a diesel coach. Herman
  22. Ray, I have nothing good or bad to say about the new FMCA road service. Just have been with Coach-Net for a long time and have had good service with them. I am sure FMCA will be good also. Herman
  23. David, Congratulations on your retirement. 29 years with the same company is very rare this day and age. (even for owners). A very nice area with a number of RV parks is Rockport. One of the nicer ones there is Lagoons RV Resort. But there are a number other nice parks there. You can check out parks in a location you might like by going on www.rvparkreviews.com. You can go to the state and then look for a city and see reviews from people that have stayed in the park. Good luck and welcome to Retirement. Herman
  24. Puff, My thought is to purchase propane at that price would mean having to unhook and go to a propane dealer. Although you may be able to have it delivered I don't think it would be at the low price. That could be a determining factor. Herman
