  1. Hi All:

    1. I am a veteran, insured by USAA for 39 years. auto, home and at one time a large sail boat. (no boat now).

    2. They will insure any and all honorably served veteran no matter how long the length of service or what branch.

    3. They do not insure Motor home or boat now as in the past. They farm this out to Progressive thru their General Accounts firm (USAA Progressive Branch).

    4. Progressive has " 0" deductible after four years of no claims.

    5. My motorhome cost $55K four years ago (No claims so far). Originally my insurance was $500.00 for several years with $250 deductible. My insurance this year is $431.00 for 55K for 12 months, with "0" deductible. However, this is only because I have had no claims for the past four years.

    6. A final note you will find out more about your insurance company then you want to know after you have a major claim. After "Hugo" I had claims on home, boat and two cars. USAA made no hassle at all and paid up nicely.

    7. In insurance I think you get what you pay for if you are with a good company.

  2. I have a Safari Simba and on a recent trip to MN. I had both tires on the right rear blow out' one had no air, which cause the other one to blow out. Coachnet found a tire service near Lamoni, Iowa ( We were really in the boondocks) who had two used tires which they changed on the side of the road. Two reasons for my comments, Coachnet really came through with expedited service. My tires were made in 04, but I only had 18,000 miles on them. On return to Alvin, I replaced all the tires, and all the valve stem extensions because they get old also

  3. I have a 2006 Safari Simba with a Norcold 1200LRim Refrigerator.

On my last trip, the freezer, & ice maker worked fine, but wouldn't cool down below, even with the temp. setting at the coldest (9). Same problem whether on gas or AC.

I could hear it running, but the cooling fins in the main part just didn't get cold. House batteries were okay. Is this a grounding problem somewhere? Any ideas?

  4. All suggestions listed are good. I have a Safari Simba with a 8.1-liter gas engine, with a no-wind mileage of 9 mpg. I can not tell any diiference in the mileage when using the dash AC, whereas the generator uses about 1 gal. per hour. Don't drive faster than 60 mph, don't accelerate rapidly, and be aware of traffic conditions to minimize the use of brakes.
