  1. Yesterday we got the hubs lubed and the rotors turned, installed new calipers and bled the brake lines. The caliper on the left front tire froze up immediately. Where do we look next?  New brake line?  Still looking and haven't been able to locate one. Or the abs modulator?  Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

  2. I have a 2005 Fleetwood Southwind on a Workhorse chassis. I got less than 10 miles from home yesterday and the ABS light comes on. I turned around and limped slowly home. In the driveway I see hub fluid all over left front tire.  My maintenance schedule is rigorous and proactive. It appears the brake caliper hung up and fried everything. The Work Horse caliper recall was completed March 2011 and only has 5,000 miles on it. Why would this happen?

But more importantly where can you find the hub assembly?  I am told they are not made any more and they are unavailable. I find that hard to believe with the thousands of these chassis on the road.

Thanks for any insight members can offer.

  3. Thank you for the comments. We went through the process of isolating the coach breakers to try to identify the source. The only coach breaker tripping is labeled "general purpose" and is tied to the inverter. With the inverter out nothing trips so the tech thought the inverter was bad. However on the bench test it was ok. Perhaps one of the coach batteries has gone bad. We will check there next. Thank you!

  4. I just returned from a 2 week trip and had no problems. I ran the generator for approximately 4 hours while on the road. Turned the generator off and went to plug into power at home and the breaker continued to trip. Turned the generator back on and no problem.

I called an electrician thinking there was something wrong with my home outlet. It is a 30 amp outlet and I use an adapter for my 50 amp MH. Electrician found no problem. I called an RV repair service thinking the transfer switch was bad. No problem there either.

After trying many options the tech removed the inverter and the circuit breaker was OK. I have had the MH plugged in for 24 hours without problem. RV tech bench tested the inverter and it worked OK. Now what? replace the inverter anyway? Thanks for any ideas.

  5. Thank you for all of the responses! There does not appear to be any water damage and I am hoping the self leveling caulk will put this experience behind me. Thanks again for the information.

  6. Yesterday while preparing the motorhome for the season I found that a branch had landed on the roof and made a hole about the size of a quarter. The roof is the one piece rubber membrane. The hole is small but pierced the membrane and the plywood below it. How should this be repaired?

  7. I use my generator to run the roof air conditioners while on the road. The generator starts easily and runs well for about 30 minutes then shuts down.

Yesterday, I re-started the generator and it started easily but shut down after 15 minutes.

Any thoughts on what is causing this problem?

    Thanks!

  8. I have a friend and FMCA member with 1990 Chevy 454 on a P30 chassis having a problem with the cooling fan. The fan is running constantly and he thinks the sensor is faulty. Can anyone provide a diagram showing the location of the sensor? Thank you.

  9. I have a 2005 Southwind motorhome on a Workhorse chassis. I will soon leave on a 3,000 mile trip and have been told to have the lug nuts checked for proper torque before departing. The wheels were removed in April for the brake recall and I have driven less than 500 miles since that time.

How often should lug nuts be checked?

Thank you for assisting with this matter.
