  1. We have been using our combo unit for 5 years now without problems. You do have to learn how much constitutes a load of the various items, and the amount of time to allow for drying. We wash everything in the unit. It does help to have clothing, etc. that does not require ironing. For jeans, we use pants stretchers to create a neat crease, and wear other clothing that does not require ironing. A stacked unit might allow us to clean more at one time, but we would have to give up storage space. Ours is vented to the outside.

  2. I have traveled in Canada six times in the past three years in my coach, with Texas plates. I have never had my rig searched. I have always found the Canadian border personnel to be courteous. Never had one ask to enter my coach. On the other hand, when returning to the US, the BP has always done a walk-in of the coach. Usually looking in the refrigerator.

We have many Canadian friends from wintering in AZ. We have found the Canadians to be friendly, and parts of the terrain to be beautiful.

  3. Three years ago we got beetles in our awning over the door. They got in the awning somewhere in Oklahoma, and stayed until we got to Wisconsin. Each time we let the awning out they would stay close, but fly around the awning and top of the rig. As soon as we started the motor, they all flew back into the awning and stayed until the next stop. Weird, but kind of fun to watch.

  4. If you are going to Monteal you should not miss Quebec City. We found it much more interesting and easier to get around than Montreal. Especially the old town down by the cruise ship docks. The Province has gone in and rehabbed all the old structures and sold them back to shop owners and residents.

IMO it is a must see if you are in that part of Canada.

I'm not sure about driving your RV downtown, but the RV Park we used had a shuttle that ran daily to downtown and back.

Walking the downtown and harbor area is very practical.

  5. I had a SaniCon on our 2011 Monaco Knight when purchased. The first thing I found to be a problem was that the end of the hose that connects to the sewer was too large to fit thru the hole in the bottom of the compartment. This meant that I either had to leave the compartment door open, or connect and disconnect each time to dump. Neither option was acceptable. I also found that it was very slow when compared to using the 3", and there was always some dripping from the hose. Just not as sanitary as using the 3".

Bottom line, the use of a SaniCon seems to be a love or hate situation. People either love it or hate it. I fall into the hate it category. I finally had it totally removed, and sold it for $150. The purchaser is happy and I'm happy.

  6. We have a 2012 Monico Knight with a large driver side cable system and it has been nothing but problems and can find NOTHING on the internet regarding this, which tells me that Monaco has to be watching the internet and deleting any information that is negative that appears, We keep meeting people that are finding the same problems. So if anyone knows of anything on this problem please let me know. Thanks

I'm sorry to hear that you are having problems with your full wall slide. We have a 2011 Monaco Knight with a full wall slide and have never had a problem. I also know of several others with 2011 & 2012 Knights who have not experienced a problem. Have you discussed the issue with Coburg?

  7. Mesa Verde National Park near Cortez is a must see. We have visited the Cortez area several times. The best park in the area is the Mesa Verde RV Park, http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/colorado/mancos/mesa-verde-rv-resort. The address shows as Mancos, but the park is about 1/2 mile from the entrance to Mesa Verde. In the summer, I would recommend reservations ahead of time.

  8. Monaco and Holiday Rambler were still being built to the 2013 model year by Navistar but was brought out. Unfortunately didn't look like the MaxForce engines did very well with all the problems customers had with them. When Allied Specialty Vehicles brought out Navistar their first goal is to get rid of the Roadmaster chassis. They are using the Roadmaster name on a modified Freightliner chassis on the Dynasty and Freightliner on Ambassador so it's not the same. That means that all models has to be redesign to fit the new chassis as a drop on the frame bodies as opposed as the way it was built before. Looks like Fleetwood is part of Allied Specialty Vehicles that was formed in 2010. Maybe that's their plan to get more market shares by hanging well know name brand on an entirely different coach. The only thing that exists of Holiday Rambler and Monaco today is the name.

I have a 2011 Monaco Knight with the Maxxforce 10 engine. I have had no problems with the engine, and after speaking with a number of other owners with that engine, I don't know where all the "problems" have been. In reading this and other forums, it seems that all brands of engines have enough problems to go around. One of the best things is no DEF.
