  1. Seeing as you are only looking for 1-2 hours of labor, ask for Jeremy Johnson - Service Advisor at Johnny Walker RV at 703-436-2495 who took care of us - tell him a very satisfied customer recommended him - Nick Koulichkov --

Maybe with this intro, he would see if they could accomodate you - hope this helps !!

Edit -- if they can't do it in the time frame that you need, perhaps they can recommend a mobile tech or one of thier techs can do it on an "after hours" basis - can't hurt to ask !!

  2. Went to AK and western Alberta 2 summers ago with a caravan tour from Fantasy Tours - money and time well spent !! Top of the World Hwy is something to experience - as others have noted, go slow!! Be careful and make sure your co-pilot is there to assist when needed - we had a full cover for the Saturn - windshield to bottom of grill - sure, it was a PITA to secure at times but not ONE scratch on the Saturn after 60 days in AK and Canada - make sure your coach mud flaps are fully deployed as that will help - take your time and enjoy one of the greatest sites you will ever see in the USA !!!

  3. Did you have any unusual claims? Tickets? Hard to understand the increase as I also have Blue Sky and experienced a minor increase in premiums - in the range from 5-10 % if my memory serves me right --

Did you inquire as to why the dramatic increase in premiums ? Did you request additional or increased coverage ??

  4. Custer State Park in SD is a destination to be visited !! We were there two summers ago - with our 2 grand kids from Denver - lot to do in the area - Also Zion and Bryce NP should be included in your itinerary --

WE fulltimed for 20 monhts, saw 40 states, multiple Nat Parks and 7 presidential libraries -- The US has a lot to offer - check it all out !!

  5. Try Yuma AZ - right on CA/AZ border - 120 miles to San Diego - great desert location - We stayed 2 winters ago at an RV park called Fortuan O'ro (sp?) Huge pool, golf course on site, reasonable rates, access to Dentists in Mexico - friends highly recommended -upgraded tennis courts, pickle ball courts (great sport) etc.

Would go back again in a heart beat !! Interesting things to see/explore in that part of the US !!

  6. I also use a 30 Amp portable Surge Guard and have had some issues with it laying on the ground on occasion - however, I figured out a way to prevent it from walking. I used a lock with a long shank that just fits over the heavy wire and then secure that with a chain to the pedestal. Someone would think twice about removing it as other portable surge guards are not secured to the pedestal at all would present an easier target.

Yes, the Surge Guard has saved my electrical system several times - problems are usually reverse polarity at older parks.

  7. I also would recommend the SMI Stay-N-Play system - I tow a 2009 Saturn Vue - very similiar in design and weight as the SRX - This unit has worked flawlessly over the past 20, 000 miles !! Costs a little more up front but well worth the simplicity to engage and get on the road !!

If you do go with this unit, would recommend a dash light installed to show that the unit is working while driving your coach - really gives you peace of mind !!

  8. I've had our rugs cleaned several times over the past 14 months - I always ask the RV park who they recommend to do this service - you really want someone who has cleaned coaches before - not a rookie !

It will take most of the day for the rugs to dry so plan accordingly - last job cost us $95 -

  9. I use a slide lubricant EVERY time I retract my slides - I spray along the rails as the DW works the power from inside the coach - We use walkie talkies to communicate my directions to her ie. retract slide, I watch rollers roll and spray lubricant on the wheels - then stop 1/2 way and work my way to the other rail to compleete the process -

What is your issue ? Slide not retracting or squealing badly ??

Not sure what system you have ? Can you provide further details so others can help ??

  10. I also have a portable Surge Guard 30 amp unit - I lock it with a chain and deep shank lock to the bottom of the unit and then lock it to the pedestal in the RV park - I also use a black garbage bag to cover the unit if it rains and keep prying eyes off of the unit

The unit has saved my electronics several times in the past year - issue is always Reverse Polarity - if park won't fix, I move to another site !!

  11. Second year with Blue Sky Ins company - had an damaged awning claim in the first year - $2400 repair - rate did NOT increase for second year - I was certainly expecting an increase - however, no increase !!

I met with one of their agents in Tuscon last winter - we went thru our coverage line by line and he suggested items to change for a significant savings -

Let me know if you want his contact info --
