Member Access to Governing Board Mailings/Documents
jeff753 replied to jeff753's topic in FMCA Feedback
Why restrict it? I'm a member and I am going to be asked to vote on something I can't see the details about? Is there something a national director needs to see but I cannot? I have no desire to be another Good Sam or Escapees nor do I think it will solve the obvious problems. Now a good marketing campaign and membership drive....that would work! Maybe a new wifi plan sponsored by FMCA or something like that:) On edit I'd like to thank and congratulate Chris Smith (FMCA Executive Director) and his teams for hooking us up with the new Verizon benefit I heard new memberships are up a gazillion percent over the same month last year Let's give this new team a chance succeed before we try to float a new boat How about 2 years? Nothing says we can't try something else first -
I tried to review Governing Board Mailings for the upcoming convention and it says my account does not have permission to view such stuff? Why is that?

Reposted from our Facebook group page The FMCA ENERGIZED group page has grown from 31 a year ago to 231 today. We are generally the under 60 group, or those that still feel that way, of the Family Motor Coach Association. On our way to the Chandler Arizona rally a bunch of us caravanned from the east to Chandler taking over 2 weeks and hitting fun locations on our journey as we picked up more of our friends along the way. We are all about having fun and relationships as well as helping FMCA respond to our demographics. Indianapolis in July represents the third national rally we will gather at in only one year. We will have DOGZ on Tour, social gatherings, pub cycle, KIDZ Zone and a special ENERGIZED KIDZ Fire Safety seminar for kids (age 10 and over) with at least one parent, brew bus (they pick you up) as well as the offerings of the rally. Join us at Indianapolis in July for your next fun adventure. If you have already signed up for Indy (about 60 of us have) watch for updates on our ENERGIZED T shirt pre order for Indy as well as further updates.

You missed my point. 70,000 members could be served with electronic postings or 70,000 phone calls. FMCA acts like everyone knows the routine. In fact most do not. Especially when 33% are first time rally attendees I was at the Eastern Area briefing in Chandler and the dates for Gillette 2018 were announced. Can't find them in FMCA.com though. Even tentative dates would help people at least consider a rally. The notice of rallys is a different issue than this discussion on if we should allow towables though. I apologize for going off topic. Is there a link a member can view what exactly is going to be discussed and voted on July 12 at the convention meeting?

On our way to Indy some of us are stopping at Turkey Run State Park for a few days of tubing and canoeing. Great park!!! One thing FMCA could do better is to announce the rally dates at least 14 months in advance so people can plan on hitting some other venues on the way. Many of these state parks are booked well in advance...especially in the summer.

A couple years ago fmca started an Under 60 Task Force. This "Task Force" (over 500 members) evolved into the ENERERGIZED Steering Committee. We organize some extra stuff for the kids at the rallys and we have social activities that interest the young at heart (regardless of age). On occasion we have specialized drinks and BBQ;) If you make a National Rally check the box "Request U60 Information/Energized info" and you will be added to the email list of our activities. In addition to the ENERGIZED Events for all.... we also host and organize fun stuff for the U60 crowd too. For Indy---we are looking at a brew bus tour (they pick you up), farmers market and a pub cycle for our off site events--- in addition to our social gatherings, KIDZ Meet n Greet and DOGZ on Tour on site. Saturday's entertainment is a Cirque d Solei type show so that should be fun If you'd like to get added to the email list (we only send out emails in advance of the National rallys (2 per year) and communicate with those at the rallys once they begin ) email Kathy Anderson at KAnderson@FMCA.com Kathy will add you to our mailing list

Currently members get a $10 voucher (can be used for dues) for each new member they recruit. So if you got 6 new members you'd get a year free. I'd like to see a more aggressive new member drive program for a set time period The problem I see is a tool kit to serve current members that are interested in getting new members. For example, if I could open up my iPad and print a two page (front and back) that had member benefits and an email for more info on the front (or page 1) and an application with a referral number on the back....I could just hand that to someone. I'd always have it so it's not something I'd have to carry. I think the board heard this trailer idea and thought it would be a panacea to fix the decline in membership. Perhaps it would but I don't think it's without its own problems nor the best solution One of the goals of FMCA ENERGIZED is to recruit new members from all age groups. To that end we will work with the National office and the membership committee to improve our new member recruiting tool kit. Currently if I try to print new member info from the fmca.com page it says "you are already a menber" and fails to provide me information to print and hand to my neighbor. Next time you're at a park ask 3 coaches if they've ever heard of fmca.

Too bad there was a good conversation going on here about it. Maybe it can be restored. My previous point on the deleted thread was allowing towables is perceived as a solution but it's not the first solution in my opinion. Next time you're in a RV park and see a motorhome; ask them if they have ever heard of FMCA?. I'm surprised how many have not. I think our "member solicit member" approach has missed entire generations of motorhomers Over 50,000 new motorhomes hit the road last year. With our current membership at 70,000 we must be missing the vast majority of this group too. I'd suggest a focused membership drive instead of bringing in towables. I've also spoken to a few of our coach vendors who are also opposed to the merger

There was a whole member thread on this subject that seems to have disappeared?

Carl Last year at the Perry rally the FMCA ENERGIZED steering committee unanimously changed the name from FMCA under 60 task force to FMCA ENERGIZED. Why? Because fun doesn't grow old. If I'm canoeing on my 60th Birthday and I was born at 1pm. Do I have to get out if the boat at 1??? No.......At Indy we are going to pub cycle downtown. We don't care if you 90. Come on. DOGZ on Tour, Paint n Sip, Brew Tours, Wine Walks....let's play. We are about relationships not birth certificates That's why the task force changed the name. That's why we host activities that the whole family is invited to.

Going to try to rejuvenate this thread a bit. In the past FMCA has used its members to recruit new members. As the membership grew older so did those they recruit. As a result the average age is now 71. There is a core of younger motorhomers out there that FMCA is failing to capture in my opinion. For examples I'm at a nice Rv park in Louisiana and just talked to 8 class A motorhome drivers. None of them have heard of FMCA. The tire program and medical assist in themselves are worth the membership cost They just have never been recruited They are younger and have kids i think it's a design flaw not intentional exclusion FMCA recognizes if they don't get younger families back the club will die out. To that end they've started FMCA ENERGIZED. This group of 500 members is generally under 60 and many have kids. Some roadschool their kids. At National rallies ENERGIZED host fun things to do in addition to the regular rally entertainment. If the evening entertainment is too old we make our own fun. If you are in the Indianapolis area in July 11-17 I'd encourage you to check out the ENERGIZED group, and bring your kids to that National Rally and come play with us! If you or anyone else is interested post something in the ENERGIZED forum here or email us at FMCAENERGIZED@fmca.com or request access to our closed group on Facebook at https://m.facebook.com/groups/854704651273774?ref=bookmarks Next we need a link that has member benefits on one side and information to sign up in the other side. That way I could print one two sided page for the 8 Class A coaches I talked to today for their consideration. It's time to Make FMCA Fun Again if it is to survive. What is the mailing address for the Chandler Rally for mail or packages
-
Will be there!! I understand it's in the magazine but online is free. When you click on more info it should take you to a flyer and pdf of the form. It just takes you to the web form to register. I don't know when it tells someone how much it is. Anyone have a PDF for Chandler?
-
Just received an email blast that announced the date and location for Chandler. It has a link to register. When you get to the registration form there is no information about what the rally is. Just the start of the registration web form. There is no information about what a rally is? How much it cost? Entertainment? The process seems written for people that have attended multiple Rallys and know what to expect. I think we have many first timers that need some info prior to filling out the web form.

Just saw RV Basics training course is available prior to Chandler Rally starting. http://www.fmca.com/fmca-academy.html Can we get some more details/schedule on the course provided for the $250/400? Could be great for First Timers!! Jeff Walukonis

This is always a nice rally and this year it should be a nice time of year. Is it true 30 amp full hookups are sold out? Are 50 amp full hookups still available?

I was pulling hard left. Swapped the two fronts right to left. Still pulled left. Took rig to Michelin tire shop just south of Springfield. Tires sidewalls were wobbly on the balancer. Two year old xza2. The Michelin rep authorized two new tires mounted and balanced at no charge. Drives perfect again. It was the tires.

I also tried to meet Mr Marble (tire expert) at the big e but between parking/layout sand standing up FMCA ENERGIZED I had no time. I left him a pm too

2001 Dynasty 44,000 pounds with Cherokee towed Michelin XZA2 Energys 295x80x22.5 was pulling hard left. Go around a shallow left hand bend with steering wheel at 12:30. To drive straight wheel at 2oclock. Go five miles an hour let go of steering wheel turns to 10:00 Swapped fronts left to right and right to left and it seems to drive normal? I figured if it was a tire it should now pull right but the revolution of the tire is now reversed since the left (presumably bad tire) is on the right?? I did find the tire about 25 miles south of the big e and will head down there tomorrow
-
Thanks Wolfe We are still on the grounds at West Speingfield. Headed to Daves Truck Repair this morning. I figured red since it pulled hard left and i swapped the fronts it would pull hard right. It seems to drive normal again? if they can't visually see a defect we may swap them again and see if it pulls left again.
-
It seems all of a sudden it started pulling hard left. So bad that I could go around a slight left curve with the steering wheel at 12:30 If I let go of the wheel it would turn to 10:00 and oversteer into the left lane. At the Big E I swapped front left and rights. Today I took it for a drive expecting it to pull right. It seemed to act normal??? I'm confused as to why? I thought it was a bad tire belt?? Still at the big e looking for a solution.
