  1. I did things a little differently rather than renting one. We bought an older coach to determine how we'd enjoy it (we had previously owned a travel trailer and new we didn't want to go that route again).

    It was one without slides and after the first outing, we knew we'd be looking to upgrade to a roomier coach. We did enjoy the lifestyle. We were able to sell the existing coach for about what we had paid for it and bought a super C coach. Loved it except for the cab noise while driving (front end diesel).

    Well........shortly after that, we found a coach we liked (floorplan) and traded the 08 Seneca in for our current coach (40 foot Country Coach Inspire). In just over a year, we had purchased 3 motorhomes.

    The other day, we were at an RV show and really liked the 2016 Newmar Ventana 40 foot. Test drove it, even though we knew we were not in the market (the salesman kept pushing to test drive, so why not...).

    Long story short, we did not purchase another RV ... LOL.

    We know another is in our future at some point, but not likely anytime soon unless the lottery decides to rule in our favor. We like our Country Coach and are not "real" serious about a new one. Crazy way to get into the lifestyle, but it worked for us. In retrospect, it would have been nice to follow the old adage of "buy your last coach first"....

    Welcome to the forum and, by all means, when you do get your motorhome, join FMCA --- it's well worth the price!


  2. Look at the FMCA program for your Michelins. Consider your local area big truck tire stores...better prices than what Camping World quoted you, that's for sure! I'm currently running Bridgestones on my 40 footer ... I like them as much as I did the Michelins on a previous coach. Didn't care much for the Goodyears that the Michelins replaced on the last coach.


  3. We have one that came with our coach (06 Country Coach Inspire). I'll take a look and see if there's a manufacturer identity anywhere on it. We take the leaf out while traveling and install it when the slide is extended.

    edit: okay, just took a look at the table and can't find any identifying marks other than some magic marker numbers along the underside that don't really identify a manufacturer. The leaf adds 12 inches.


  4. Sounds like some nice projects. If you do decide to go with another TV antenna, I can highly recommend the Jack antenna. I replaced a worn out Wineguard antenna with a new Jack on my previous coach. Pretty easy to do, although I did have to make the hole a bit larger to accomodate. I did get better reception, albeit not overly significant. The best part was that I no longer had to raise and remember to lower the antenna.


  5. The cover on mine is white and was located on the left hand side of the steering column up against the left side of the coach. Of course, that doesn't mean that's where yours will be. I suspect it's tucked up under your dashboard near the firewall somewhere, but I have heard that some manufactures have tucked it in the wiring beneath the console where your shift buttons and air brake switch is housed.


  6. Have considered them...not so much for mileage improvements, but the cross wind assist and any less dirt to the toad ... not so sure now after hearing some actual results. Sounds more like minimal assist than anything very noticeable. I've never seen them on any rigs, either...not that I was specifically looking for them, tho


  7. Hi Bill

    I use CoachNet as my roadside assistance program and am insured via Good Sam with National General. I haven't had to rely on either service (knock on wood) so I can't really comment on either. I did have Good Sam Roadside assistance many years ago when I had a trailer and they provided good service the few times I need their help.
