Gorgeous ride. Have done it in three different Class A units( one rented ), pulling a travel trailer behind our F-150, and a number of times in 18 wheelers.
US 50 is in excellent condition from Canon City west. Monarch is one of the higher major passes in Colorado, and 50 has a lot of curves between Canon City and Salida.
If you plan to stay at the KOA in Gunnison, try to make reservations for a 50AMP site. Every other site seems to be 30 AMP.

Bed Makers is the brand name and they market a set of four Sheet Straps. Pulls the corners in tighter. Walmart sells them. Inexpensive. Maybe Amazon also.

We bought our very low mileage Phaeton 2003 a few months before my 70th birthday (2014). Of course, I do the driving, and I am no longer feeling all that permanent at soon to be 74. Recommend that you keep what you have unless you are loaded with dough.🙄

Got you topped, of course much of it was in 18wheelers. Have delivered truck parts and Harleys to Farmington. When I think of that part of New Mexico, Farmington comes quickly to mind. I should have looked at the. Map .🤔
Have come up out of Texas headed to the Salt Lake City area, and that took me through Shiprock, to Montiicello, then north on US191.

Carl/ must have had too much wine!😎 The decision point in New Mexico is actually Shiprock. I guess 29 miles away in Farmington is no where near Shiprock. 😄 The roads that the O/P has suggested are all fine for 18 wheelers. Have traveled most because I have always looked for a reason to visit that area in a truck or an RV. US 491 as it leaves Gallup takes anyone interested in Monument Valley (that spills from Utah into Arizona ) exactly where they need to be.
I guess 29 miles away is no where near anything. Any RV, large or small is safe to travel the roads that the OP asked about.

Gallup north to the four corners area on US491 (formerly US666) is an easy ride. Once you get to Farmington NM you can pick several ways to see Monument Valley. None will cause you any trouble. Check maps for how you want to continue from Farmington.

Gotta ask this. Did you close the valve on the built in tank before you hooked up the extend a stay portable propane tank? The images that I have seen verify what Brett said. The plumbing is properly installed, but could a portable tank maintain the pressure needed to heat the evaporator properly if the built in tank was not turned off? The burner jet is easy to replace with a new one available at rv repair dealers.. Seems to me that I remember a warning about a small wasp being attracted by the smell of propane. Moves in and makes a mess. Old knowledge. My two🤔

Probably do not have many openings that could be damaged by the Blue Beacons very high pressure sprayers, with your coach. Band Buses use them regularly. Do a walk around to identify what could be damaged by high pressure washing. If you see something that needs special care to avoid problems tell the crew boss about them. He will be the guy that greets you when you exit the coach and takes you inside for payment. Make sure your windows are tightly closed. If you have aluminum wheels that could lose their shine because of " brightener" ( their term for a somewhat acidic application) used in the washing process, you can tell them No Brightener. Wheels can be protected by the covers they have.There are some shiny aluminum wheels that can withstand somewhat acidic applications.
Unless Blue Beacon had a policy change, tips are not allowed.
Have used them many times over the years as a trucker.

The FEDs started regulating on duty and sleep or off duty hours in 1938. Often ignored by truckers who weren't tired😎😡. Now the rules are being enforced electronically because Most trucks today have ECMs that can be easily tapped in to.
The problem I think is that trucking tonnage has exploded while the really experienced drivers have reached retirement age or just decided over the road trucking is no longer worth the hassle.
The new drivers for the most part (not all) are worrisome. It is a tough way to make a living and many don't last long .
Late in my career, I tried to find spots that I could drive into to avoid an incompetent driver backing into my tractor while I sought much needed sleep.
Today, if I needed a nap with our rig, I would doze in Walmarts, shopping centers, or noisy rest areas. I normally plan a route that is not a marathon and includes an RV park at the end of the day.

Oh! Meant to respond to the Opossum comments. We have them here. They sometimes squabble with raccoons over outside cat food. Did not know they help control ticks. I am now glad that they are here.

A Lyme Disease Specialist and MD that I used recommended Repel as a deterrent to ticks. It is only to be used on clothing and will last up to two weeks on boots, and clothing. Treat skin with the milder repellents. REPEL( Blue Cap) is available at Walmart. We live in the woods therefore I use it regularly.

I drove a tractor trailer most of my adult working life, but I would have to be desperate to stop in a truck stop with our Phaeton. I use them for fueling only.

Brett's last choice would be my do-over if I lost another transfer switch. Our first class A was gas powered. The coach 50amp power cord either plugged in to generator output or park power 50 Amp. It worked very well. Never lost a transfer switch because it did not have one😉. Carried adapters for 30AMP power or the occasional 15AMP power. Yes they did exist 30years ago.
Yes Carl and others. It was wired for 50AMP power. 34 feet, with two a/c s, two furnaces, insulated tanks heated by the rear furnace, a sit down tub for the better half with sliding doors and a shower in there for me.
It was a winter time coach. Dorchester Campground well above Gunnison at 9700 or so feet and overnight temps in the high teens in late September. The sky was beautiful at night.
Oh by the way! The ATS on our newly acquired 2003 Phaeton 40ft diesel failed in 2014 before we got it headed west on our first trip. Just another chore in order to feel ready. Next time I would convert to basic tech.

Both units work when plugged into park (50 amp) power? Perhaps I missed it, but does the front unit run properly on gen power when the rear unit is off?
When running our Onan 7.5 diesel over the road for coach a/c, I close the rear of the coach off and run the front a/c only. The genset is capable of running both units, but why burn the extra fuel necessary to "ice" the interior down? Park power easily cools the rear down at the end of the day.
The gas genset on our first coach was tricky to keep running at heavy load from the gitgo. Bought a factory manual and a multimeter with frequency readout (from Radio Shack😊) and tuned to the point that it would run both a/c s , the converter, microwave etc.

My Phaeton is a 2003 and Tiffin was not a lot of help for me. There were many workhorse chassis used. If Tiffin can not help look elsewhere for a manual or other documentation .

A GFI circuit that had worked well for a long time and stops working even with a new install sounded like a bad ground to me. I have experienced problems with GFIs over the years in our house. Need I point out that once grounded properly it should stay grounded because it is not subject to vibration or corrosion?
Not wired correctly and still worked??🤔😳

OK Sundance! Eight hours are up. I would have tried a new ground connection, but when I suggest anything unorthodox, I usually get hollered at by at least Carl. GFIs have caused trouble around our house of 41 years. Copper plumbing is a good source of ground.😎

I understand the idea of solar panels on the roof of an RV owned by someone that enjoys dry camping (boondocking to greenhorns). However, I recently read an article about the heavy metals (toxic) in solar panels. Have thought that they would be a problem. What to do with them when the panels complete their life cycle? There is a nationwide craze of solar panel installation. Re: California will require them on new buildings. Where will all of this "bad stuff" go?
We did a lot of dry camping with our first coach. Various federal campgrounds that offered almost nothing but a water source ( if that). were a favorite. Wish that we had a 2000 Watt Inverter Honda generator back then. They are remarkably quiet and fuel efficient.

Don't think that you should head north until late March on your way to Utah and on to Oregon. Yuma is a popular spot for the winter. Been there a bunch of times in an 18 wheeler loading produce. Do not know the crime stats. In and out with a big rig usually keeps the bad guys away. But I could see us there. Love Marine Corp jets.

Too much info!🙄 GFIs are very sensitive to improper grounding. If the system worked flawlessly and it is now causing problems it is either a failure of the GFI or a problem with the ground.

Look for a site that deals in high end RVs. In 2015 we were next to an absolutely gorgeous 45 foot Prevost conversion towing a King Ranch crew cab 4x4 . Very pleasant gentlemen and we were in the Gunnison KOA. There was a small rally of of Prevost conversions . I felt like the crazy uncle.😉
You have a truck that weighs at least 5200 lbs. Not for your average RVer.
