Power Gear Touch Pad 140-1179

Recommended Posts

Have 2006 Gulf Stream Crescendo...Power Gear Touch Pad #140-1179 for hydraulic leveling failed (has hydraulic slides for galley and living).  Cannot find new or used TP. Sent original TP to M and M RV Electronics for repair...they fixed a couple of things, but found micro processor to be out of whack...need Lippert to release blueprint in order to fix...not looking good!  So, what can we do if M and M can't fix it?

Bowdenrisl, Welcome to the FMCA Forum !

The automatic leveling system - part number 140-1170 has been replaced by part number 140-1228.

Link to Tip sheet to setup the 140-1228 replacement for the 140-1170.   https://www.lci1.com/assets/content/support/sheets/pg-82-L0317-T.pdf

Hope this helps.

Note, Sometimes the chips used in equipment are discontinued, so you might need to up grade the control board if that is where the problem is. The second option is to check and see if the older one can be located at a salvage yard.

Rich.

Hi Rich, thanks for replying to my call for help!  Like us old guys the small print is hard to read...our part # is 140-1179...not 1170. M and M RV Electronics Repair has our original touch pad, but is having difficulty fixing it.  This 1179 is a rare one!  If anyone can find one I will pay top dollar!! Thanks for your help, Richard

This is a link to the manual that covers this system. No luck regarding the Touch panel yet, but looking at one that might be a replacement. Just not sure.

Look over the options covered in the manual - I just have not seen any information on a Touch pad that also controls the slides. Got to admit that I'm a little confused. Looking at the 1179 panel and do not see any reference to a slide out on it

I have never seen or heard of a leveling system that also controlled the slide out/outs from the same touch pad.  I just scan thru the link and saw no ref. to a slide out on any of the schematics!

The touch pad controls only the leveling jacks...slides controls on panel in hall, but the control box underneath is tied to both the jacks and slides...Big Foot and other rv repair shops told me this.  Big Foot declined to quote me a retrofit because of the control box's dual role. I have talked to LCI recently and they are being very helpful...looks like they will work with M and M RV Electronics Repair to fix my 1179 Touch Pad...that would be best solution of course!  My Crescendo is model #8710.  I will read manual you sent.

Thanks again for your help Rich and manholt...take care, Richard

LCi does list a controller that apparently controls both the jacks and the slides and I had never run into that type of setup before. So when you mentioned the slide system with the jacks. It sure through me a curve.

The LCI module has a different style connection for the control pad - the other connections looked the same. So maybe an adapter cable can be made to interface things. Not knowing if there unit is built for TT and Fiver's. You might want to ask if a different / or larger hi current relay needs to be installed between the hydraulic pump and there controller? Coaches tend to weigh more the the trailers.

Good luck

Rich
