mapleskoff Report post Posted May 6, 2019 I have a tow dolly and a new 2019 Hyundai Sonata, front wheel drive. Manual says it may be towed, but is vague on position of transmission, and no info on steering wheel (locked or unlocked). Any info is helpful, and thanks in advance. hermanmullins Report post Posted May 6, 2019 Doc, Does your tow dolly have steerable wheels? If so you may lock your steering wheel and be sure the Parking brake is off and away you go. However if your dolly does not have steerable wheels you must leave the steering wheel of the Hyundai unlocked. Hope this helps, Herman

Actually tow dollies have swivel plates, this is a plate that has a single pin or maybe bolt with a lock nut that allows the plate to swivel, the other kind is like an Acme tow dolly and has no swivel plate. Yes if it has a swivel plate, then you want to lock the steering wheel, but if no swivel, then leave the steering wheel unlocked. Transmission should be left in park, and as Herman said, no parking brake. Happy trails.
mapleskoff Report post Posted May 17, 2019 Thank you both. Mine is a Master Tow, with the swivel plate, and I will follow your collective hints, with thanks. BZ. Bravo Zulu. Navy speak for "well done".
