BarbHasenfus Report post Posted June 11, 2019 I have recently purchased a 2016 Focus S, automatic, which according to FMCA and the Manual, is towable, four wheels on the ground. Can anyone explain why I must disconnect the negative battery cable prior to towing?
jleamont Report post Posted June 11, 2019 BarbHasenfus, Welcome to the FMCA Forums! Usually that is recommended for cars that will turn on modules once it senses the vehicle in motion. Most Ford products go into a “sleep” mode after 15 minutes as long as it’s sitting still where all of the computers shut down and only draw power to keep memory. kaypsmith Report post Posted June 12, 2019 If anyone wants to install a good negative battery disconnect instead of pulling the battery cable, a switch like this one can be used. https://www.wirthco.com/battery-doctor/battery-disconnect-switches/commerical-heavy-duty-disconnect/emergency-push-button-switch I know this is not answer to OP's question, Joe has already answered that, only added this for information as a better idea. By the way, BarbHasenfus, welcome to the forum.
