Extended Warranty

Recommended Posts

We have an 05 Winnebago and purchased an extended warranty when we bought the coach. We have used it several times and have had no problem with it being honored by the repair shop. Ours is a $50 deductible which sounds great. Our propane tank had a leak where the bracket was welded onto the tank. No problem with the warranty paying for a new tank ($1100), it did not pay for the welding that was needed. It seems that Winnebago has changed the position of the bracket on the coach so the new tanks do not fit our coach. Had to relocate the bracket on our coach. Ended up costing us about $500 not $50. Ours does not pay shipping or redesign issues. Read your policy so you know going in what you are getting.

Thanks Dave, I should have mentioned that our coach is a Monaco. We're really glad we didn't purchase an extended warranty from them! We were talking to people next to us in an RV park that had AAA and I guess there are others that sell extended warranties also. I found a web site called complaintsboard.com; however, you only see the bad experiences. It's good to hear that some actually pay something, if not the total bill.

We have had very good luck with ExtraRide. There are few exclusions and pretty much all repair shops will take their coverage.

Can you elaborate on ExtraRide? I googled this and got nowhere as far as an extended warranty is concerned. We also are looking into extended warranties for our 2000 American Coach Dream and are finding pricing very high and really not full coverage, as they have their small print that covers them, not us.

Thanks for your response.

If you haven't already made your decision. What ever you do stay away from Star Interstate Warranties! We purchased the highest level available for our 2000 Safari Zanzibar DP. Every single time we've had a claim, and there have been several, it's been a struggle to get coverage! I've had to threaten the second coming of Christ to get anyone's attention. Otherwise it's always an automatic "That's not covered."

Read everything you can get your hands on about any warranty service plan. Make sure to call you repair shops and talk to them about their experience with various warranty programs.

Still a newbie at posting and rv'ng. We bought a used 2002 Pace Arrow last Nov from Camping World and purchased an extended warranty from them-- Good Sam, $50.00 deductible. So far they have replaced a broken transmission cable, ($50.00), a water pump, (50.00) and to top it off, our 4 door Norcold refrigerator had bad door seals. Norcold does not sell replacement seals, you have to buy new doors. About $3300.00 installed. Needless to say, they paid the difference and we bought a new Norcold.

It has definitely paid off and they are good to work with.
