psmethurst Report post Posted April 5, 2021 Ok I need some advice on replacing a Black water tank. We have a 2002 National RV Dolphin, It has been a great coach the 5 years that we have owned it. Recently developed a leak at what appears to be around the middle bottom of the tank. Is this something that would be better taken to a dealer or is it a long weekend project for the DIY guy. hermanmullins Report post Posted April 5, 2021 psmethurst, Welcome to the Forum. If you can see where the tank is leaking you might be able to have it welded. I am sure that it can be a DYI project however if the tank would be needed to be replaced, I would have a dealer do it. My reason is you will have to pay a dealer for the Labor and parts and should there be something wrong with either parts or workman ship the dealer is responsible for doing it over. With the quality of parts now a days I would like it covered. Hope you are able to get it repaired or replaced Again Welcome, Herman
rayin Report post Posted April 6, 2021 (edited) I agree, plastic welding is fairly easy, the hard part is cleaning the tank and getting it completely dry inside so the heat gun/welder doens't get anything hot and runny then ruin the weld.
