Roads from Page, AZ to south rim of Grand Canyon

Question

We are planning a trip that will include a visit in Page, Arizona, and then to south rim of Grand Canyon. We will obviously be driving US 89 south, but are wondering if highway 64 that connects to the south rim is a good road for a 40 foot motorhome that is towing?  As an option, would Highway 180 to Highway 64 be a good road or would it be better to go the long way and route from 89 to I-40 to 64?

You should not have any trouble. Suggest you visit north rim while you are north. Great views through giant windows of the lodge dining room. Not as many people or crowds to deal with, but the south rim has an excellent trading post of Native American Indian art at fair prices, not cheap though.

we camped in 38 ft motor home near page and drove auto to the north rim. North rim campground was full and unless they have been enlarge the sites, sites were smaller than you will need.

I would call NOW to get a reservation at Grand Canyon Trailer Village. The benefits are many, such as the bus stopes at the park and takes you every ware including places you can't drive.

We are also stopping by north rim of canyon.  Also, will be making reservations for Trailer Village CG, but we're just outside the window for making reservations.  Need to wait about one more week before we can set things up for next year end of September/first of October.  Thanks so much for the input.  Robert always worries whether roads are too narrow or have sharp turns for our 2008 Winnebago Vectra.  Happy trails!
