akadeadeye Report post Posted August 14, 2011 So, are you going? Where are you staying? Private parks, balloon fiesta grounds, which lot? We will be in the Standard RV parking, no hook-ups. Look us up. FMCA 409608 on the ladder. Don
Guest BillAdams Report post Posted August 14, 2011 If you are among the group that has not gone, at the very least, add this event to your bucket list!!!! We have stayed (free) at the Sandia Casino just up the hill for the last 3 years but our first visit was on the grounds in their dry camp area. Around $65/day with no hookups but your other choice is the Presidential campground at around $125/night. The view from this campground is excellent but there is a better likelihood that balloons will fly over and/or land nearby from the dry camp area. There is a camping area across the street just South of the field which has excellent views as well for a lot less. When we stay at the Casino, we feel as welcome as any campground we have ever visited. Security checks on you and they put out dumpsters for your use. Have a question? Just ask, they are as helpful as they can be. You are farther away and you don't get the on field experience (which I highly recommend) unless you pay for a ticket but it's still a great view of most of the events and a great place to watch the weekend nightly fireworks. akadeadeye Report post Posted August 15, 2011 Bill, the dry camp area is $30 per day (not $65) during the fiesta and $15 during the week prior to the beginning of the fiesta. Free is better but it's nice when you can see balloons flying over your RV while you are making coffee. Don

It may be higher this year. I am referring to the camping site on the Fiesta grounds and generally situated near and around the Balloon Museum. I believe you are talking about the area across the street. The parking also includes tickets to the field for your stay.

paulcarson Report post Posted August 15, 2011 My wife and I were at the balloon fiesta a couple of years ago. We stayed at the KOA Central. I sure wish I was there again this year. It was so much fun. Maybe we will make it back that way one year soon. Everyone that is going, have a great time and enjoy the scenery.....Paul
