jkfilson Report post Posted December 5, 2011 The heating element on my Atwood 10 gal water heater has failed and I need to replace it. I have a 2006 Winnebago Journey and I'm not sure if I need to remove the heater itself, and if so, how do I do that?
wolfe10 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 The Atwood water heater owners manual should show the location of the 120 VAC electric heating element. Most are on the "inside" side of the water heater, the side opposite the outside wall. If this is it's location, access to that area will dictate whether you can replace the element with the water heater in place or have to remove it. desertdeals69 Report post Posted December 5, 2011 The water heater is mounted from the outside. If you can't get to the element from the inside you will have to remove the unit. You might want to test the various components to determine if it is the element.
