jackdag10 Report post Posted January 4, 2012 I am having front end tow hitch installed on my 11 Jeep liberty renegade. Jeep dealer told me that I would have to have car programmed once hitch is installed. He said computer needs to tell car it is being towed. No one seems to know about this, wonder if it is true? kingfr Report post Posted January 4, 2012 I've towed three computerized Jeeps, a 2005 Liberty, a 2007 Grand Cherokee, and now a 2012 Wrangler. None of them needed any computer updates to be towed. The only thing that I can think of that the programming change might (and I'm not sure that this is even possible, especially with the ignition off) do is cause the odometer to accumulate miles while towing, not a good thing as far a I am concerned.
