Gunk In My LP Gas Tank Hose Used For BBQ

I have a hose that connects to the LP tank that is about 10 ft long to connect to my BBQ...used it this past summer with no gunk or problems.

Used it at the Plant City Strawberry Festival trip early March and it has gunk coming out...

Local propane guys tell me we got bad gas somewhere...can't even remember where we last filled up.

Is there any way to clean that gunk out of the hose or do we have to toss it?

Pat, Sounds like the material in the hose is braking down. Do not know how old it is,but to save other problems with the BBQ just replacing it would be a good idea in my mind.

I did read an article some where on this problem,but for the life of me I can not remember where. Get as case of CRS from time to time.

Let's clarify just what kind of "gunk" is in the hose.

Is it a light viscosity almost clear grease?

Is it black-- if so, greasy feel or particulate in nature.

It is black and greasy.

P.S. Also thanks to DickandLois...the hose may be 5 years and not used a lot...maybe 10 times in 5 yrs.
