lms1943 Report post Posted May 3, 2012 Recent short trip, first day 300 miles next morning started motorhome (2001 Airstream XC360) low water, abs, check engine and check trans lights did not go off and fuel gauge not working local RV tech (??) checked fuses could not find a problem none were blown, lights went out. Next travel day all worked well except fuel gauge, next travel day all warning lights on, stopped for fuel then all is well. Now no warning lights come on when key is switched on, fuel gauge still not working. Can anyone offer any advice or suggestions Thank You Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
hermanmullins Report post Posted May 3, 2012 IMS 1943, You didn't say what kind of coach or what year it is. I have an 02 Monaco and have a problem like yours. Mine is in the key switch. Sometimes when I turn the switch to start the coach there will be no lights on and no instruments will work. The engine will still start but nothing on the dash lights up or works. I turn off the key and turn it back on, sometimes it takes several tries, and everything works. I am living with for now. My key switch is a GM. However I will have to remove the switch to find out the number and just don't want to have to rewire it now. I will do it this summer. I sent you a P/M. rogernbeverly Report post Posted May 3, 2012 Welcome to the mystery problem Herman. I have the identical issue with my 1995 Monaco Dynasty. I have not had the problem of it remaining off, however. I am looking at two items that may be causing the problem. 1) Ignition switch. 2) look and see if there is a relay for the dash panel. Will let you know the answer. dickandlois Report post Posted May 4, 2012 With intermittent problems one needs to check the ground connections. Very often there is a common grounding point. Regarding the fuel gauge, check for a bad ground connection or even a broken ground wire running between the fuel tank and ground. The senders need a ground connection, often they will read full or empty when the ground is missing. Herman point about the key switch is veiled. Also check the connection and connector behind the switch. Some circuits do run hot and I have seen times when the plastic connector holding the wires to the switch have melted. Rich.
