ronandsue74 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 I just changed my fuel filter & water separator and now my coach won't start. I have a 2005 Inspire with the Cat C9 engine. After I changed the filters I started the coach It ran for about 30 seconds, started missing and then died. I have not been able to start it since. I know I have air trapped in the fuel system but I don't know how to bleed the system. Advise appreciated. Thank you, Ron Jacobs 2005 Inspire #51264
wolfe10 Report post Posted July 31, 2012 Ron, Assuming you have the Caterpillar secondary fuel filter with manual primer pump, turn the knurl nut/pump handle counter-clockwise to unlock. Pump until it goes from very easy to very hard (the transition will occur within just a couple of strokes as compressible air is replaced by non-compressible fuel). Screw the knurl nut/pump handle clockwise to lock it. Your fuel system is now primed and ready to go. If you do not have the Caterpillar secondary fuel filter with primer pump, let us know. Verify that the primary filter is 10 or 30 micron and the secondary filter is 2 micron. And, you are correct, sadly, not diesel with run on just air.
