Where To Spend Summer Months In Colorado

Where is not a good place to spend the summer in Colorado? We love Estes Park, Durango, Pagosa Springs, Creed, South Fork and on and on.

The wife and I love Colorado. So any place you end up in would be great.

An RV Volunteer may not be for everyone. It is a fun adventure, with plenty of time to explore the area, and contribute to the preservation and protection of America's National Parks.

There are lots of variables to your question. Do you travel with children or is there just two of you? Would you like to be near a city with lots of activities or would you liie to create your own activities (hiking, biking, fishing?). Do you need full hook ups or do you like to boondock for a while? What are your favorite activities, just relaxing and moderate activities like wine tasting, and shopping, or more strenuous like rafting, mountain climbing, jeeping?

I love the Ouray area which you've already been to. You might check out the Glennwood Canyon area and I also like the central mountains like Twin Lakes/Leadville.

X2 with Herman. We have spent many, many summers in this area. Especially Fun Valley which is just west of Southfork.

i had good luck boondocking around Silverton at Mineral Creek and Maggie Gulch, National Forest and BLM places maybe 5 miles from town:

... and also way up the Gunnison at Taylor Park Reservoir, where there are actually electrical hookups at a National Forest campground that's not too crowded.

Our choice in Colorado is Taylor Park also, there are several areas with some hookups.

Usually we go on up to Tincup and boondock on the side of a mountain. Really great, go back to Gunnison ( approx 35 miles) once a week for supplies.

We love to roam around the mountains on our Polaris and sometime pan for gold.

Remember to get out of there when you see snow low on the mountains, it can get nasty in a hurry.

We have decided to spend July in Ouray and August in Creede.

We agree that any where in Colorado is great and definitely beats summers in Houston area.
