paullson Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I am a Canadian driving a 35' Class A Winnebago Voyage with 8.1L Vortec gas engine. I dinghy tow a 2009 Honda Fit weighing around 2,000 lbs. According to information I have obtained, some states have Special Requirements, some have either a 1,000 lb. or 1,500 and some a 3,000 lb. limit for needing a BRAKING SYSTEM. Any comments??? wolfe10 Report post Posted July 31, 2013 Les, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. Yes, each state has their own requirements as far as toad weight limits without a supplemental braking system. But, it is my understanding that in Canada you must have one, ever on lighter toads. BTW, the 2009 FMCA Towing Guide shows the empty weight of the Honda Fit at 2,489. desertdeals69 Report post Posted July 31, 2013 Toad brakes are required in Canada. Every axle on the ground must have brakes, so if you have a tow dolly even the rear wheels of the toad needs to have brakes.
