geraldlanc Report post Posted September 21, 2013 My new to me Beaver coach has a power reel for the 50 amp cord. The first time I tried to retract it, the motor quit about halfway in and made a clicking noise like a starter/dead battery. I started the coach and then the reel worked perfectly. kaypsmith Report post Posted September 22, 2013 Sounds like a weak battery or batteries. Have you put a volt meter on the house batteries, and the chassis batteries? Not sure which bank your cord reel works off of, but I suspect it is the house batteries. When you started the coach, the alternator was running, and the amperage probably increased. I'm sure that the shore cord was unplugged at that time, which would indicate that your inverter/charger was not supplying any current to the house batteries.
