New To RV'ing... Looking For A Kid Friendly Place In Florida

Recommended Posts

Hey you guys,

We're are looking to go to Florida around Christmas time have a 11 year old son who wants to go to Lego Land.

Any suggestions on an RV park that will accommodate a 35 foot class A with a car dolly.

We need 50 amp and all hook ups and the wife wants a great view.

Thanks in advance.

How about Disney's Ft Wilderness? We camped there when our kids were little and still love to camp there alone or with our grandchildren. And I maintain that you don't have to go in the theme parks while there. The campground has regular activities for children, every night they have a campfire sing along with the Chipmunks followed by a Disney movie, and there's a petting zoo. Also you can go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge to see the animals on the prairie. Every night there is a fire side chat/storytelling and free marshmallow roast.

Another popular park in Orlando is the Orange County Turkey Lake Park. We haven't been there in years but reviews are good. It's on the west side of town that would put you closer to Legoland.

We have stayed several times at Sun-n-Fun with our daughter. It is located in Sarasota FL. Not sure if this would fit the location where you would like to be. Prices were descent and kids were welcome. We have been down a couple times over Christmas. My daughter was 8 and 10 when we stayed.

Beaches were nice. You can go on a day trip to Sanibel Island, state park is close by, Tampa to Bush Gardens, and depending on which way you are traveling you could stop by at Weeki Wachee to see the mermaid show. She might be a little old for that but...

They are also big rig friendly.

We may be back down there this Christmas I can swing the time off at work.

Just got back from Fort Wilderness with our 7 year old grandson in a 44 foot coach. It's a little pricey but a great facility. Nice level sites having concrete pads with easy access. The pools are great, well maintained and life-guarded, and many night-time free activities. Restaurant, convenience store and boat rentals. Free bus rides to all of the Disney facilities including Downtown Disney with stores, restaurants, entertainment and a Lego store.
