gsvrcek Report post Posted February 14, 2014 When first start up on gas it will work fine for 24 hrs. Then check light comes on. Traced out lots of stuff and found solenoid clicking but no gas coming out. Disassembled and reassembled valve and gas comes out but only to fail again. Is it possible to hear the solenoid clicking but the piston not be held open? Never ran into that happening......
wolfe10 Report post Posted February 14, 2014 gsrcek, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. The gas solenoid will give but a SINGLE click (as it opens). It would be defective if multiple clicks. The igniter gives several clicks-- until flame is detected. Put your finger on the solenoid valve as someone turn the refrigerator on (or to a colder temperature). You should feel a (one) solid "click" as the valve opens.
dickandlois Report post Posted February 14, 2014 gsvrcek, Welcome to the FMCA forum! The gas valves can open when first activated, only to close again. The coils resistance can change, but make sure that ALL the electrical connections are clean and tight. Make sure the grounds are tight and the board contacts are clean. Use a contact cleaner on the cable connector and a pencil eraser to clean the board / any flat board connector(s). Rich.
