PBARNISH Report post Posted April 13, 2014 Interested in opinion of best route early May from northern N J to Nashville. It seems there are two routes, I 81 to I 40 or I 81 to 68, 79, 64, then 65.
0 BillAdams Report post Posted April 13, 2014 Both would be an easy trip with only about 35 more miles by not going 81 nearly all the way. If you want to see some things along your way I would choose the route with the sites you would like to visit. If I just wanted to get there I would take 81 the whole run as you will have less city traffic along that route.

Suggestion: if you come down the 81/40 route, try to avoid rush hour through Knoxville, which is around 3:00 to 6:00PM. Drivers are animals there during rush hour, and the police patrol the West side of the city (40) in full force looking for (and catching!!) speeders and reckless drivers. Enjoy your trip!!
