Storing glassware while traveling

We carry a fair amount of glasses and cups when we travel. We have them wrapped with that spongy stuff and placed in the cabinet. I would appreciate some ideas for making them safer/easier to access. Same goes for the plates and bowls. How do you store yours?

We have our wine glasses hanging from an overhead rack in the top space of the pantry. Every other one is wrapped in the sponge/non-slip material. The front one in each row is unwrapped and easy to access. If we need more then we have to start unwrapping. We have eliminated most of our glass tumblers and use plastic now. These are stacked between the glass coffee mugs thus separating the glass items. We now have completely gone to plastic plates and bowls but before that we used the non-slip material between each one.

When traveling about, there are always places to purchase souvenier glasses.

Why have souveniers if you don't use them. Just extra weight and clutter,

and if they break, just grab another.

Just call us "trash." We use all paper or plastic. But don't worry, if we invite you over, the food will still be good, and the drinks cold.

Janet and I keep our coffee mugs and glasses stored safely inside socks! You can get a dozen of the ankle socks for next to nothing in the dollar stores. For plates, we use paper plates between the glass plates.
