Close Up Of mosses growing On Log

Here a close up shows some of the many kinds of moss that grow in the rainforest of Olympic National Park. These are growing on a log on the forest floor. You can not see much of the log in the picture as every possible surface is covered with moss. Temperatures seldom freeze here and there is plenty of moisture. Plants thrive in this environment.
