  1. My wife and I currently live in Florida but may soon be moving to Colorado. We would like to find a nice development that is RV oriented and offers sites that can accommodate a small efficiency type building on up to large homes. If anyone is knowledgeable about "The Great Outdoors" near Titusville, Florida then that is what we would be looking for. The reason for this site would be for the winter portion of the year. In other words we are strongly considering becoming snowbirds. States we may be interested in are Texas, Utah, Nevada or Arizona and possibly southern Colorado. Any help would be greatly appreciated. For those not familiar with "The Great Outdoors" here is a link to their website: http://www.tgoresort.com/ Thanks in advance.
  2. I had a similar problem in our Barth. I finally replaced the unit which was original from 1993 since I assumed it was going on the fritz. I had done all the normal checks including the 120V supply and all was well. After installing the new Dometic AC I went to test run it and guess what, it would not start. I then did another check of the AC voltage and found that I had an intermitent neutral. I then had the wonderful experience of pulling a new run of 12 AWG Romex cable from the 120VAC panel to the roof AC unit. Prior to replacing the unit I had noticed that if I banged the wall, stomped on the floor, etc. the unit would shut off and on. Apparently what was happening was that the neutral would open then quickly reclose the circuit. This would put the roof AC unit into a stalled compresor condition which is, for all practical purposes, a direct short circuit. Since the other roof AC unit was running, along with other 120VAC items, the draw on the generator would exceed the generator's output breaker rating before it exceeded the AC unit's breaker. Since the old unit was 16 years old I decided to go ahead and had it properly disposed of. I also had the local RV shop do a complete check of my generator just for my own piece of mind. I hope my ramblings are of some help.
  3. I have a 1993 38 ft Barth Regency which had a Xantrex 458 3000 installed a few years back. The Xantrex web site has much information on all of their inverters. This information includes what may not run correctly using MSW inverters such as theirs. Also, very important, they list what circuit breakers will not function correctly with their inverters. Check out all the tech information they provide. My inverter puts out a good 120V and I have not found any equipment problems. I also have verified that all my AC breakers so indeed work, including the GFCI breakers, with my inverter. This all said, I have found that the technical folks at Xantrex are more than happy and eager to help you with your specific questions. I highly advise that you contact them with your questions.

    Rear View Side Camera

I have always hated the blind side on the right side of our coach. To eliminate this I installed a camera under the right side mirror and a seven inch monitor on the dash next to the rear view monitor.

Right side view of our coach showing the newly installed camera. In this view I have marked lines that delineates the area covered by the camera.

  13. Pretty impressive. If you ever make it up to Idaho there is a place called "Craters of the Moon" near Arco, Idaho. Since it has been thousands of years since the last lave flow you can climb down into the tubes and travel along them.

This view shows the bundled cabling as it enters the overhead bin area. The top of the slides can also be seen in this view.
  16. From the album: New TV

View of new TV installation showing the TV swung out and lowered into viewing position. The slides are made but pop-riveting two full extenstion slides back to back. They are attached to pivot at the top and have holes drilled at the bottom to install locking pins for stowing.
  17. From the album: New TV

Another front view showing the cavity behind the TV. If needed it can be used to stow maps, TV guides, etc. The spring visible in this view is used to pull the cables back out of the view as it is being stowed.

    Our Barth

Our 1993 Barth after our renovations. We purchased this in June and spent the next six months completely renovating the inside. Refinished cabinets, new flooring, wall treatment, seat coverings, PEX piping (200 plus feet), satelite dish, TV, etc.
  24. From the album: Our Barth

How our Barth looked during the Christmas and New Year's holidays near Galveston, Texas. We went to Texas so we could visit someone we knew who was in the MD Anderson cancer center in Houston.
