  1. Welcome to the FMCA forums.

You did not say if the speakers just quit working or never worked so I will make a few comments which may or may not be relevant.

I am not sure about the 2004 but my 2006 has a volume control for the front speakers about left knee level when in the drivers seat. There is also a volume control knob

in the storage bay where the outside speakers are located.

Also check out this forum: http://autos.groups....roup/alfaseeya/

It is Alfa specific and someone there may have some suggestions.

  2. We stayed at Fishing Bridge campground inside Yellowstone this past summer on the way to Canada and Alaska. We were there 4 days and really wish we had planned more time there. Four days was really not enough to enjoy all Yellowstone, and the nearby Grand Tetons, has to offer.

After returning to the lower 48 we decided to visit Mount Rushmore on the way home to Texas. We stayed at Stockade Lake North campground in Custer State Park just outside Custer, SD. It is a very scenic area.

  3. Most Wal Marts, as well as other businesses, routinely have signs in their parking lots stating that they are not responsible for theft, vandalism or

damages. We have had our Jeep hit by loose carts before and it is irritating. Maybe it is time businesses in the US starts doing what we saw in

Canada this year. You have to deposit a quarter to get a shopping cart and when you return it to the proper location, you get your quarter back. We

did not see loose carts in the parking lots!!!

  4. Congratulations on the retirement and fulltiming. We sold our home late November and hit the road. We will spend our winters in the Texas hill country north of Austin and travel the rest of the year. We will probably spend next summer in Colorado so I can indulge my greatest weakness - flyfishing.

We left Texas in May this year and returned in early September after 10,000 miles. Canada and Alaska are great. We really enjoyed our time in Fairbanks.

    Enjoy your travels.

  5. Welcome to the FMCA forums.

We just returned from a 3 month trip to Canada and Alaska. You don't say specifically where you are located or where you intend to cross the border into Canada but from the highways you mention, I am assuming you will go north on IH 15 from Great Falls, Montana.

I can tell you that the trip from Great Falls, Montana to Calgary is a very simple and relaxed trip. It is primarily rolling plains and no cliff hangers. Nice roads all the way - mostly divided 4 lane. Relax and have a great, enjoyable trip.

I don't know about now but in late August, Montana 3 between Great Falls and Billings, MT was under heavy construction and rough. If I were going to go to Great Falls through Billings,

I would take US 87 to Lewiston and continue to follow 87 west to Great Falls.

  6. Richard,

I would want to take it to a competent RV technician and have it evaluated - maybe the Alfa repair facility you mentioned. We have an Alfa and love it. Just returned today to the lower 48 from a 2 month trip to Canada and Alaska - a little over 8,000 miles since we left Texas on May 25th - and it performed well. Also try this forum:

This is an Alfa specific forum and you will find many owners there to answer questions and try to help you.

  7. Montie,

Did you recently change your email or something else in your profile? I see there are two Montie entries in the Member listing. That recently happened Wayne77590. Send a message to Todd Moning (tmoning) and he should be able to help you.

  8. Montie,

We left Great Falls, Montana on June 21st (having spent 3 weeks coming up from our home in central Texas) on a trip through Alberta, British Columbia, Yukon and Alaska. I have been told by my brother that the way to see Alaska is by water.

If that is any more spectacular than what we have seen, then I want to do that too. The roads overall have been good although not up to the standards in the lower 48. The only really bad road was the Top Of The World Highway from Dawson City, YT to Chicken, AK - I would not do that one again.

The main thing, if you take a motor home to Alaska, is to slow down and enjoy the scenery. These roads are not designed for high speeds.

  9. We will be at the Custer State Park Stockade North Campground August 23 through 25. We have not stayed there before but have been told it is a nice area. I made our reservations last night and it appeared they had 2 more sites available for larger motorhomes. Of course it is electric only.

  10. I am not familiar with Blue Ox equipment but I installed Roadmaster baseplates on my 2005 Jeep Liberty. It is not particularly difficult - just read and follow the instructions and take your time with the install.

I note that the Roadmaster website lists baseplates for the 2001 Pontiac Sunfire but specifies "Not GT".

  11. Mark,

Welcome to the FMCA forums. You might take a look at the FMCA Chapter listings at:

    http://www.fmca.com/chapters/about-chapters.html

This one is listed when I do a search.

    FMCA CHAPTER: HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Also, the Escapees RV Club has several groups:

*Disaster Operations Volunteer Escapees * (the Doves) - This is a group of Red Cross disaster operations volunteers

  12. Welcome to the FMCA Forums.

We do not limit ourselves to any one "flavor" when choosing an RV park. The KOA parks tend to have more amenities (miniature golf, playgrounds, swimming pools, etc.) than a standard RV park but that would be great if you have children traveling with you.

We tend to choose state and national parks because we prefer to get out and enjoy the scenery instead of the amenities.

Just choose a park that fits your lifestyle and try it but don't limit your choices.

  13. Welcome to the FMCA forums.

You will find that most people that have an Alfa love them. We spent 2 years looking a various motorhomes but kept returning to the Alfa as our choice because of the

deep slide, tall ceilings and large windows. We finally found the one we were looking for in June 2011 and went full time in November 2011. It is comfortable and we do

    not regret our choice.

Of course many will tell you that Alfa Leisure went out of business (as did many other manufacturers) in 2008 but all they made was the box. Freightliner built the

chassis, Cat or Cummins engine, Allison transmission, etc.

If your look at the FMCA membership directory you will find that 493 members own an Alfa.

Alfa specific parts and support are available through Alfateers in California and several others around the country.

The links below will take you to various Alfa specific sites:

Check your slide out seals. If they are white you will probably be replacing them in the near future. They do not hold up as well as black. The large windows let in a lot

of light but that also means more heat in the summer - but there are ways to deal with that.

If you have any specific questions, please feel free to send me an email.

  14. Like most others, we belong to both. We are also Escapees members. You just have to look at the benefits of belonging to various organizations to see if they fit your needs. I just used (last week) the Pilot/Flying J card received as a Good Sam member and it worked great. I got the discount off cash price and no hoops to jump through!
