  1. I have no direct experience with Sprint but I have heard complaints. No service has complete coverage so we hedge our bets. I have Verizon, my wife has AT&T. In general I might say V has better service in the east but we travel Texas quite a bit and V was very poor in much of western Texas. AT&T was better but not great. We will be trying the Wilson Sleek this coming winter and hoping it performs as well as I have heard for boosting cell reception.

  2. Washer dryer combo load size is so small and takes so long, my wife considered it useless, especially since we stay in state parks w/o sewer a lot. She couldn't wait to get rid of it. She much prefers the storage space and we use the laundromat.

If you prefer the combo, I would strongly advise a vented one, otherwise it will take even longer.

  3. For WIFI in parks that have poor WIFI, consider a WIFI repeater (http://ampedwireless.com/). I haven't tried mine on the road yet but it works very well in my house where the signal is weak because I have a house with a lot of metal conduit.

Verizon devices work well but we try to cover all bases by having one Verizon phone and one AT&T. the iPhone can be used as a WIFI hotspot. The Wilson Sleek can amplify weak cell reception.

We manage to connect to the Internet most places we go,albeit slow at times. We are addicted.

  4. I have a different use for the battery minder. When we travel for the winter, I use the battery minder on the car we leave behind rather than disconnecting the battery. When we come home in the spring, the car starts instantly, the clock and radio settings are maintained, and the battery didn't freeze (that could be a problem in Minnesota).

  5. I have had TST for several years, in fact I am on my second system from TST. The only reason I went to the second system is that over the years, I found the anti theft sensors to be a little annoying at times when I had to adjust the pressure in my tires. The configuration of my rims made it very difficult to use the sensor wrench. When the batteries in my sensors stated needing replacement (several years) I switched to the system with the flow thru sensors. TST swapped several sensors at the Madison convention, no charge no questions asked. Their early sensors had a gasket problem but that has been solved in the sensors you have now.

Would not leave home without it.

  6. It seems like if the automatic steps begin to malfunction, it becomes an ongoing problem. You fix one thing and then something else malfunctions. My solution was to wire in a spring return to center toggle switch. It is just another step up from hot wiring that you do anyway. It does not take long to get used to manual operation of the steps and to always verify steps in before you move. We now prefer manual operation. The toggle is in easy reach for the copilot.

  7. We used the frig on propane while driving for many years. We did turn it off while fueling and complied with tunnel and ferry requirements.

The Norcold died a horrible death (ammonia fumes).

We now have a household frig with a motor that is compatible with the inverter (many are not). It has a e-save feature to reduce power. In general!, refrigerators are not a huge draw on the inverter and our inverter and alternator are beefy enough to carry the load.

  8. I use DeLorme Topo North America software on a laptop. As with any GPS, it can have its quirks in route planning but I can review the route it selects and edit it literally down to feet. It's not perfect but I have used DeLorme products for at least 12 years (before other GPS products were available). They have other GPS software available with more amenities that RVers might prefer but I prefer Topo because it shows topographic features like elevations which gives me info on the elevations and hills I might encounter. Besides that I have a 13 inch screen that I can adjust for brightness to suit. A bigger laptop would give a bigger screen but the 13 inch fits my dash location very nicely.

  9. For some unknown reason, my wife became almost obsessed with side to side weight distribution.

She would move heavier books from one side to the other "to balance the load". I explained that to a vehicle that weighs over 15 tons those books won't make a bit of difference. The obsession continued until I said, "OK, to balance the load from now on you have to sit on the floor in the middle aisle."

Problem solved. No more side to side distribution complaints.
