  1. I bought a used 2008 Monaco Lapalma and just noticed that there is only 1 12v deep cycle house battery & 2 12v chassis batteries. The original owners book said it had 4 6v batteries for house.

Should I replace the 12v?? I don't plan on boondocking at all if I don't have to. What is proper wiring I would need to do it if I have to change batteries.

  2. I tried both switches totally silent no clicks creaks or bangs.

I tested slides on gen power 3 days prior to leaving. They worked great. Tried on gen power after they didn't work on shorepower at RV site. Still nothing.

About ready to give up and pay a professional

  3. Just got to RV site (Western Village in PA)and set up. Go to extend front and rear slide out and nothing. Have to admit this is only 2nd time taking out RV since buying it(2001 Fourwind Windsport 35D).

We tested all systems 3 days prior to leaving and the slides worked without any problems. I can't figure what it could be.

All fuses seem to be OK. Any suggestions out there??

  4. I have a 1996 Georgia Boy Swinger. Two years ago I replaced the old CRT type of TV with a flat screen. I built a box like fixture that would slide in where the old unit sat, then made cross pieces on the box to mount the new TV to. I had a little extra space at the top, so that is where the DVD player sits. I painted the wooden mounting box flat black. It looks as nice or better than the original unit. I also have its sound able to be routed into the radio audio system if desired or just use the new TV's speaker.

I own a 2001 Fourwind Windsport that has the same looking front dash with the old tube tv. Was it hard to remove the old tv? I want to upgrade to lcd/led tv's and dont want to get in over my head with this project. What type of mount did you use to get the new tv in place?

  5. I assume then that you are a Dish Network customer as you can't get HD from DirecTV with a dome. Depending upon the age of the dome it may not be capable of receiving the 129 or 61.5 antenna required for HD so you should check with KVH to see if this is possible with that antennas current hardware/software. If the previous owner was a DirecTV customer be sure to have the installer reprogram it for Dish Network.

I bought it just for the use of Satellite TV instead of TV Antenna. Im not interseted in HD. I just want regular satellite reception.

  6. It's quite possible that the previous owner took the dish off and replaced it with a new one due to issues with the first one. The R6 still has very limited capabilities just as the L3 would have so I would be quite suspect as to why he would make such a change.

With that said, what service are you planning to use and what kind of receiver will you be using. I believe that the L3 used a very specific receiver which may no longer be available. I am not a KVH dealer so I may have these numbers mixed up.

There was nothing wrong with the system when it was removed. They wanted to upgrade to a system that could get HD programing

  7. I bought a working KVH L3 system off a RV owner that upgraded to the KVH R6. It has all the original wiring and controls due to it being taking off professionally. I am a newbie rv owner. I currently own a 2001 Fourwinds WindSport that I would like to have it installed. I would like to know if anybody could recommend a reputable rv mechanic in the Hudson Valley, NY area to install it. The owner that I bought it off of had it removed and the new one installed in Eastern Mass.
