  1. That letter was almost too sad to read. A few weeks ago, our Maltese dog, Jemma, was the featured Pet Spotlight on the FMCA web site. Shortly after she developed a serious cough (on our trip to Ottawa). After several trips to vets, x-rays and medications, she seems to be recovering. Finally, she was diagnosed as having a form of bronchitus and is on steroids. We were concerned it could have been quite serious -- e.g., collapsed trachea. We must leave next week for a trip to Alberta and we are hoping she will travel well.

  2. Had the Flying J Rewards card in my wallet but never did use it till the trip home from Ottawa last week. Savings was a penny per litre on gas as well as propane. Bought 186 litres gas and 44 litres propane-savings of $2.30 on the one fill-up. Now I always use a Canadian AMEX AIRMILES card for fuel-we collect one airmile for every $20.00 spent on the card. Also Shell Canada is an AirMILES sponsor and Flying J sells Shell so I collect another airmile again on every $20.00 spent on Shell gasoline. Come Christmas time we cash in our airmiles for grocery coupons usually up around the $300.00 range. So I will be on the lookout for Flying J's whenever they are convenient.

Read your blog about snow, rain, etc. in Denver. Seems you had a pretty tough time of it!!

  3. Sort of agree Gary. Anthing we have to discuss and follow up on pertaining to our motorcoaches will continue to be on this website. Both my sons and family frequent Facebook and it is more of a social network for the younger crowd. However my wife does have a FB account and will go on to see different photos, etc pertaiing to family and friends.

  4. You can say that minor problems are sort of routine. We have a 2009 Safari, Simba now with some 5,000 miles on it and there was always some minor nuisances. But we try and "go with the flow". Our bed collasped on us. a shelf above the door fell off, a big screw jammed up the macerator, the sewer rinse valve still doesn't work, the oil seal between the engine and tranmission leaks, voltage irregularities from the inverter, leak from the ice maker. Having said all that everything is fixed to perfection or will be! We have a great dealer.

  5. So you bought a Magellan! Wife and I were really impressed with Model 36R at last falls RV shows.. Triple slides and TV-fireplace in the huge living room. But we purchased our Safari-Simba instead mainly because of the great dealership we found.

Haven't installed the front FMCA plates yet-like you say, wind, rain, bugs, etc. Just place it on interior of windshield when parked. Rear was easy to attach to ladder with plastic ties.

  6. I believe I have the same lights in my Safari. Yes, a counter clockwise turn does remove the glass. A dead fly was in one of mine, so I did remove it for cleaning. My light fixtures are on a spring-loaded clip so I can pull them slightly out of the ceiling to get a better grip.

  7. News to me. Never realized that MH owners towed a vehicle without a braking system. Trying to imagine the safety aspect and I am sure there must be laws in certain states and provinces regarding that. Sure that in BC a braking system is the law. Again I don't know and sure hope there are more comments.

On the way back from KY the other day I met a (possibly) 32 foot coach towing a car which was towing a trailer with two Seadoos on it. Hope they would have braking system.

  8. The best advice we can give from our own experience is we rented first (drove 6,000 miles), bought a class C to try second (drove 11,000miles) and then invested in our class A.

Wait a while before selling up as you may not be suited to the nomadic lifestyle. We know we are not and appreciate the idea of a home base. Don't get me wrong. We love to travel and explore but once in a while, we like to be "off road" at home.

Remember also, as John (Xplorer) said, as with all motorized purchases, the value only goes down once you turn the key.

    Linda (Don's Boss)

  9. At least you stirred up some comments. I have been on the site for a while and kind of gave up as so few people are on line. You have a great profile page and comment page-don't know how you get the motion(ie:flags waving). I had written a couple of blogs but only had one response to them. Will be visiting TX,AZ,NM in 2010. See you have car dolly-I am using one first time as my Caliber is not flat towed compatible.

  10. After reading your comment I went into "my controls" and set the time for my time zone. Never thought of that. Now that you mentioned it I worked in the airline ndustry for 18 years and we communicated in those years though a "telex machine. All times were recorded in Zulu time which has the same meaning as GMT.

  11. Now all we need is to have more users go to their profile and configure it. Then, as we browse the new Web site, info can be gathered as to the contacts we are making.

    To edit/configure your profile:

Go to "My Controls." From the Menu on the left, scroll down to the Personal Profile heading. You'll see various options to edit profile.
