Thanks, Chris - I was looking at their web site earlier. We're just in the early stages of planning - our son and daughter-in-law are talking about taking our grandson this winter and we're trying to get a handle on how much it's going to cost - other than spoiling the grandson of course! We're hoping to find some ticket deals somewhere.
Years ago, when the Disney Campground was still open, we could get 3 days at Disney, a day at Universal, and 4 nights at the campground for about $100 per person - sadly those days are long gone!

Does FMCA have any discount packages for Disneyland in California? We're thinking of taking our family there later this year and we're looking to save as much money as possible! If no packages are available, how about campground recommendations real close to the Park?

Most newer engines actually run the AC system whether or not you are cooling the air. All defrost air, heat air, and ventilation air is "conditioned" to remove moisture, and a secondary benefit is to keep the seals lubricated.

Wow, double strikeouts. Phoenix USA doesn't have anything that small, according to Jimmy. Pleasant guy, and seemed pretty interested in helping me out, but said they just didn't have one 7". Smallest was 8 5/8.
I'm surprised to hear that - I'm pretty sure I got mine from Phoenix several years ago - their website implies they have some smaller than 8 5/8" also: http://www.phoenixusa.com/product.phtml?p=44&cat_key=1

Where do you find the Michelin Program Coordinator's tel number?
From the FMCA Home Page, click on the Michelin Advantage link and then go to the 4th paragraph down, which states:

When you call that number you are connected to a very nice lady who will answer all your questions!

Do you even rotate motorhome tires, never heard from anyone about this part of buying tires and their upkeep.

We've got over 18K miles on our motorhome now and never rotated the tires - they were replaced about a month ago due to age, but the wear was pretty minimal.
Before the motorhome we had a Ford F450 towing a fifth wheel - it had 92K miles on the original set of tires with no rotation, and about 30K on the second set of tires when we sold it - again no rotation. I don't rotate the tires on our cars either - unless they show abnormal wear from bad alignment.

The Palms. Great aminities, modern, 10 yr old rig or newer, lots of activities. This past year entertainment on site the Oak Ridge Boys, Tony Orlando, and others. We'll be spending 2014 JFM @ The Palms.

the Palms is nice, but it has a few drawbacks:
1. They won't let you fly a flag on your rig.
2. They don't allow motorhomes to bring trailers on site - if you're towing a motorcycle on a trailer you have to unload the bike out front, move the trailer to a storage lot across the street (for $20 a day), then you can go to your site with your motorhome and bike. A bit inconvenient to say the least. I imagine it's the same if you have a tow dolly.

We had the blade inserts replaced on our Bounder at the Fleetwood Motorhome Association Western RAlly by the Fleetwood factory staff - the inserts were $20 for the pair and installation was free. For our cars we buy the Goodyear blades that Costco sells, but their "universal" kit for mounting includes just about every mounting configuration EXCEPT that which Fleetwood uses!

Sorry to hijack this thread but this brings up a question: I've seen mention of handicap parking at events such as this before. Now normally one thinks of handicap parking for obvious physical handicaps, and to be eligible for the handicap parking a valid handicap placard is required. But if someone requires an electrical hookup for a CPAP machine, is a handicap placard also required, or is a doctor's note/prescription/etc. sufficient?

I was 82nd Airborne during the tail end of Vietnam, but never went overseas. Our son is US Navy and has spent 3 tours in the Gulf and 1 tour in Bahgdad (so far).

Hello, everybody.
We just joined FMCA last week for the Michelin discount. We've been RVing since 1978 in a variety of rigs. We started in a 1978 Cal-Camper - a 17' micro-mini built on a Toyota chassis. We then changed to a used 11' cabover camper, then a 24' Prowler trailer, a 34' Shasta fifth wheel, a 31' Wilderness fifth wheel, a 36' Sierra fifth wheel, a 36' Triumph fifth wheel, and finally a 36' Bounder. So, we've mostly been in fifth wheels but moved to the Bounder because Sandy feels more comfortable driving it than she did driving an F450 with a huge fifth wheel behind it.
We're retired, but not traveling much because we're babysitting our 2 year old grandson so his parents don't have to pay for day care, and we don't want strangers raising our grandson. We attend the Western region Fleetwood Motorhome Association Rally every year, and have attended two FMCA rallies in the past as Fleetwood Ambassadors, but never as FMCA members.
Anyway, glad to be here, and maybe we'll meet somewhere along the road!

Ok guys......... you've convinced me. Mine are 10 yrs old with lots of tread and only 32K miles but lots of cracked sidewalls. Who has replaced the Michelin XRV 235/80R 22.5 lately with FMCA's Michelin program and what was the out the door price?

I just replaced my XRVs in 235/80R22.5 with XZEs in the same size - Total bill including mounting, balancing, disposal, and all the various taxes the feds and California add my bill was $3052.51. The cost of the tire itself was $413.58 - a savings of $89.97 off the retail price. I joined FMCA last week specifically for this discount!
Broken Windshield Unsafe? Fix Or Not?

Is a cracked windshield safe? Someone smarter than me can figure out how much force is exerted on a windshield when you're pushing it through the air at 60 mph. Windshields are designed to be able to handle that force, but when you compromise the design with a crack there is a possibility of catastrophic failure at the worst possible moment. That's not to say you'll end up with a faceful and lapful of glass shards - windshields are built to prevent that - but you could end up with a panoramic view of a frosted window instead of a clear window; it's hard to see where you're going looking through frosted glass!
