  1. IMHO RC is always given in minutes and is the number of minutes you will see a specific discharge. Minutes X 4 does not give you amps. On one chart that I looked at for a 24 series battery gives 140 minutes @ 25amps. that suggests an 80 ah battery at a 20 hour rate. If that is correct, you are looking at a 360 ah battery pack.
  2. Just had to change thermostat on my ISL 400 in 2007 Monaco Camelot. I use the Silverleaf program to monitor my engine. I noticed that my coolant temp was running high, normally a rock solid 180 degrees, gradually moving up from 180 to 195 degrees over several days. I would not have noticed that on the gauge. Cummins confirmed my suspicions and replaced the thermostat.
  3. Go to and select Blog, select Lithium Batteries. Ron Jones has a six year history with lithium iron phosphate batteries. He has been dealing with Litionics Battery (a lifepo4 battery developer located in Clearwater FL). Read his blog and give him a call (he posts his phone number and email addresses). Go to http://lithionicsbattery.com/ to check out their web site. John

  5. The parking brake button on air systems can be protected with a wooden clothes pin.
  6. Aluminum valve stems and brass TPMS Senders don't play well together. Many cars with factory TPMS valve stems from about 2007 are aluminum. Dissimilar metals cause corrosion issues if left in contact with each other for extended periods of time. In my case I had to replace the TPMS valves on my car (toad) and the Pressure Pro senders because I left them on my car too long. It's best to remove the brass senders from your toad when not needed, or make sure that your toad valve stems and TPMS senders for the RV are compatible. John

    Electrical

Wow, thanks for the quick replies. I have already checked with Monaco, they indicated the road side slide would not be wired to the inverter then added that I would find more plugs without power when I checked them. I was thinking that it might be possible to change the wiring a bit to gain a little more flexibility. Thanks for pointing out the dreaded MATH of electricity, if I had checked that earlier, it would have been easier to understand and explain why it works like it does! John

    Electrical

The inverter in our 2007 Monaco Camelot works only in less than half of the coach. We like to dry camped, our two other coaches had 120 sockets which ALL worked on the inverter. This coach, which is new to us, has most of the 120 sockets that do NOT work with the inverter. Our whole bedroom is not on the inverter, the whole drivers side is not on the inverter. So when we turn off the generator the TV goes out in the bedroom while the front TV works with the inverter. I can sit at our dinette table with my computer plugged in, on the drivers side, when we turn off the generator, my 120 electrical socket turns off. Has anyone fixed this issue? Why in the world would Monaco set up a coach with no inverter at all working in the bedroom or at the dinette? Surely we are not the only couple who enjoys dry camping. We love full hookups most of the time but there are so many beautiful places to visit where electric is not available. Can we rewire this coach to allow the inverter to work in all sockets????
  9. Both Cummins and Cat have interesting papers on fuel economy. The Cummins Site has a white paper covering all aspects of fuel economy, This is diesel information, but you will be surprised at the number of factors covered. Copy and paste the following link http://cumminsengines.com/assets/pdf/MPG_Secrets_Whitepaper.pdf John
