  1. First coach, diesel pusher. Newbie tries to cold start his Onan 7.5KW Quiet Diesel Generator. He pushes either start button. The generator does not start right away, it clicks for about 5-7 seconds and then starts. Normal operation? Fuel pump?
  2. Thanks Rich, but that is for a vibrating arm, not just the glass mirror. I have an update. I called Velvac tech support and explained the issue. They said the glass part of the mirror has to be removed, and I have to check two things. 1. Loose screws on the plate connecting the mirror to the motors. Cost = $0.00 2. One or more of the motor rings are broken. Cost = $65.00 Since I got a #!%* of a deal on the coach, I am guessing I will get the more expensive one:( The guy at Velvac tech support was great. They even have tech documents on their website that shows you how to remove the mirrors as well as replacing any broken parts. I will update this post with pictures when I go inside the mirror to see what's up. Thanks again.
  3. They are Velvac Power/Heated.
  4. Just bought this rig and drove it at night for the first time. The passenger rearview mirror is shaking real bad inside the housing. I was very nervous passing other vehicles because the headlights looked like white laser pointers bouncing around. It was making it pretty hard to judge the distance for safe passing. I compared the movement of the driver side mirror with my fingers, and there is definitely more play in the passenger mirror. Is there any way to get inside the whole housing to see if something needs to be tightened or replaced? Again, this is the regular mirror above the wide eye mirror. Thanks.
  5. I just purchased a 2001 Monaco Diplomat and drove it at night for the first time. The instrument cluster lights are very dim, and it was hard to see any reading including my current speed. Even with the dimmer up all the way, it was pretty dim. I am thinking about changing them out with LEDs. Has anyone done this on any old coaches? Looking for led style and if I need to get special "dimmable" leds. Thanks
  6. I would like to bring an ODB code reader to my next inspection of a used DP coach. Has anyone done that? Where is the connector, below the dash or in the back on the engine?
  7. I guess all the RV repair places in town have very long wait lists for maint. Summer is not a good time for maint/inspections..
  8. The purchase deal is falling apart so I think I will look for something in the 300hp range to give us more towing capacity. Thanks for the replies.
  9. I am having trouble finding a company that will perform mobile RV inspection services for a pre sale on a diesel pusher. The local Caterpillar center, and the only good RV service center do not perform mobile service. Triedhttps://rvinspection.com/ and their closest tech is in Los Angeles, and they want to charge mileage to get him here and back. Is it out of place to request the seller take the RV to a service center? Does buyer/seller split the cost, or is it all on me?
  10. I am going to take it to the scales after I load it up with camping supplies and see how maxed out it is.
  11. Just purchased a 2000 Monaco Knight 36Z. It has the the Cummins ISB 260hp 5.9L, on a Roadmaster chassis, with an Allision 1000 tranny, 4.88:1 axle. Per the manual, the Roadmaster chassis is rated at 4000 lbs. max towing. Our 2012 Cadillac SRX has a curb weight of 4277. I am pretty sure that chassis can handle the extra 200-300 lbs, but I am concerned about the added load on the engine with a fully loaded, camp ready coach. Especially how it would affect climbing mountain roads. Has anyone gone over their tow capacity by a few hundred pounds?
