Roads from Page, AZ to south rim of Grand Canyon
rhsjwjr replied to rhsjwjr's question in Destinations/Attractions
We are also stopping by north rim of canyon. Also, will be making reservations for Trailer Village CG, but we're just outside the window for making reservations. Need to wait about one more week before we can set things up for next year end of September/first of October. Thanks so much for the input. Robert always worries whether roads are too narrow or have sharp turns for our 2008 Winnebago Vectra. Happy trails! -
Roads from Page, AZ to south rim of Grand Canyon
rhsjwjr posted a question in Destinations/Attractions
We are planning a trip that will include a visit in Page, Arizona, and then to south rim of Grand Canyon. We will obviously be driving US 89 south, but are wondering if highway 64 that connects to the south rim is a good road for a 40 foot motorhome that is towing? As an option, would Highway 180 to Highway 64 be a good road or would it be better to go the long way and route from 89 to I-40 to 64? Sandy and Robert from Mobile, AL -

We are leaving from Great Falls Montana on July 8, but not with the Fantasy caravan. We're traveling this time with Adventure Caravans. -
Prince George, BC To Washington State

Thanks for the input. We'd like to drive the Fraser Canyon route. I assume the 7 tunnels are tall enough for large RVs??? -
We will be taking an RV caravan this summer and will finish in Prince George, BC. Would love some suggestions on good campgrounds (FHU, 30/50 amp, big rig friendly), and routes to get from Prince George to Washington state. Would like to know best border crossing to use and any interesting sites along the way. We plan to eventually get to I-5 and work our way to Crater Lake. Also, any suggestions on "must-see" sites along the way or places to avoid. We have a 40' diesel pusher and will need access to fuel also. Sandy - Mobile, Alabama

RV Resort Near Ford Museum In Michigan
rhsjwjr replied to tlud820@gmail.com's question in Destinations/Attractions
We visited the Ford Museum the end of April and stayed at Wm C Sterling State Park in Monroe, Michigan. This is an easy 20-30 minute or so drive from the Museum and was the perfect place for a large motorhome. It is right on Lake Erie and many of the sites are FHU. You can reserve your site online and they have photos of the sites so you can see what amenities are at each site. In Frankenmuth we stayed at Frankenmuth Jellystone. It was pretty empty when we were there, so we had plenty of room, but I imagine during peak camping times it could be pretty crowded. I don't think there was much else around there and it was right in town, so it definitely worked for us. By the way, we camp in a 40' Winnebago Vectra. Sandy from Mobile, Alabama -
We are considering purchasing an all electric coach and were wondering how it would work if 50 amp service was not available. Could we use 30 amp service at all? Considering all the house appliances in the coach, we are a bit hesitant about going this route. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Robert in Alabama

We are planning a trip to the Elkhart, Indiana area in April of this year and are researching places to have a custom buffet/computer desk installed as well as replace carpeting. Companies we've researched include: New Debut (M. C. Miller Customs), Pro Custom, and Master Tech. Would love some input as to the quality and reliability of their services, or even a suggestion of somewhere up there that is known for quality work. We have a 2008 Winnebago Vectra, 40 foot, diesel. Thanks a bunch! Sandy from Alabama

Michigan Upper Peninsula-- Diesel Availability
rhsjwjr replied to rhsjwjr's question in Destinations/Attractions
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, we haven't figured out how to get 20 miles to the gallon in our MH, so definitely won't be getting 1000 miles on a 100 gallon tank of fuel. Am most concerned about getting the big RV in smaller fuel stations, but will make it through, I'm sure. We always start checking for fuel by 1/2 tank and when in remote areas will fill up whenever we have a chance just in case! Happy travels! -
Michigan Upper Peninsula-- Diesel Availability
rhsjwjr posted a question in Destinations/Attractions
We are planning a trip in a few months to include traveling through Michigan and across the upper peninsula. Plan to stop in Newberry and Champion on way to Duluth, Minnesota. Would like some input as to availability of diesel fuel for a 40 foot Winnebago Vectra along this more off-the-beaten-path route. Sandy in Mobile, Alabama -
Is US 89 from Emigrant, MT to Great Falls, MT RV Friendly?
rhsjwjr posted a question in Destinations/Attractions
We are finalizing plans for our trip in late summer/early fall and was wondering if US 89 between Emigrant, MT, and Great Falls, MT, was an easy/safe route for a 40 foot Winnebago Vectra diesel pusher. Have heard it was quite scenic, but need to know if this is something that an RV can do easily. We will be towing a Honda CR-V. Thanks so much for any input you can give. Sandy from Mobile, Alabama -
Planning for 2016 to Glacier NP
rhsjwjr replied to relationshipdoc's question in Destinations/Attractions
Thanks for the input. Will probably route us to Cody via Highway 16. We are going to be in Cody the end of August, then spend a week at Yellowstone's Edge Campground north of Yellowstone, and from there go to St. Mary's KOA in east Glacier in September -- heard it's a bit less crowded up there then. We do plan to do a day trip to Canada and like your idea of the boat ride. Yes, we do have our Golden Age Passports. Sandy (Mobile, AL) -
Planning for 2016 to Glacier NP

We are also planning a trip in this area next year and appreciate all your input. However, I would like to know if anyone can tell me about the route to Cody, either along Highway 16 out of Buffalo or along Highway 14 out of Sheridan. We have a 40' Winnebago Vectra and will be towing and my husband is hesitant about taking one of these routes because of the mountainous terrain. Have heard NOT to take 14A in the RV. Also, when leaving Cody, how is the Highway 310 route north from Greybull as we will be heading toward Glacier from there? Sandy from Mobile, Alabama Winnebago Vectra Towing Honda CR-V
