There are various RV trip routing services, some probably pretty good, some not. A service that provides routes, alternate routes, mountain grades, bridge clearances & maybe even campgrounds located along recommended routes would be nice. If anyone has used certain services, what are they and do you recommend or not. Also, does anyone use Mountaindirectory.com ? If so, do you think the book or on-line version is preferable ? Price seems reasonable and the publication looks to be very informative. This year will be our first venture to the mountain West with a 38' Class A, w/Triton V-10 & Jeep Cherokee towed. Been West before but never in a rig like this, so some apprehension is to be expected, I guess. Any advice will be most appreciated.

Kaypsmith: Thank you for taking time to share your information. The lift you show is is similar to one I had seen work before, but was never able to find it on-line. Will definitely be looking into it ASAP. Looks like the ideal solution for my wife!! -

Interested in the 4" stair option as well as lifts. Have searched for lifts but can't really locate anything that looks good. Any websites you could recommend , Kay ? My wife has to crawl up steps in our Class A 😟😟 -

manholt: thanks for the feedback. Yes, Kerville has been our "go-to" winter destination, however last year & this year, due to my wife's health, we won't be going. We are considering selling our 37GT Thor Challenger (2014) since it is not getting enough use. We're not quitting, by any means, just taking a break & hope to purchase a newer unit once things improve. A top quality consignment dealer, as PPL appears to be, is WAY more appealing than going thru the hassle of trying to sell it myself. I've heard the warnings about consignment, and how the dealer tends to find things that need repaired/replaced in order to get the unit sold. Richard

We are considering PPL. Have promptly received info from them & they seem to know what they are doing & how to do it. For $550 they completely wax, detail your RV prior to putting it on the lot, which is worth it, in my opinion. They establish a selling price for your approval, then you decide. Commission is 10% Hopefully some former PPL customers will reply with experiences, good or bad.

This makes sense, tcolburn, except the house batteries switch in our Thor Challenger is about a foot above the doorway....so that option is out. Have to take the MH in for a safety recall, which is for the steps. Maybe they'll have an answer. If so I'll post their suggestions, but it won't be for a few months till we get there.

Have the same issue when house batteries are OFF; when they're on steps retract OK. Been trying to solve this for awhile.

We have always left the water heater on electric 24/7, even when in one location for months. About five years ago had to replace an element. But now that the subject comes up for discussion, it does seem to make sense to shut down during periods when not needed for awhile. Think we will begin this practice...sure can't hurt anything Looking forward to future comments on this topic.

In the FMCA magazines, there are several companies offering custom fit Dash covers, though I've seen some reviews that some are not as "custom fit" as they claim. Might be worth checking in to.

Oops, forgot to mention, "Snowbird" is a Florida, Arizona term. "Winter Texan" is the term to use. If ya say "snowbird", everyone will know you're a "Newbie"!!

We winter in Hill Country, a laid back western type atmosphere. Fredericksburg RV Park is our destination for this year. Have several friends from Amarillo we enjoy being with. And...Hill Country not that far away!

Nix Nix on the clinic mailing RX to us either; another violation of Federal law. MUST be picked up at the doctor's clinic ONLY, then hand delivered to the pharmacy. We are fresh out of ideas, too, but really appreciate all suggestions. Thanks, Carl !

Herman: Pharmacies will accept faxes for regular prescriptions, but not for any containing a narcotic. Must be directly from Doctor and hand delivered by the patient to the pharmacy. Hoping no one thinks I'm a "know it all" , but we've been down many of the avenues already, trying different angles to circumvent Uncle Sam's long list of rules. The medical clinics don't like it at all as they are being closely monitored, and are subject to fines and/or prosecution for over-prescribing. Plus their Gov't paperwork load is gigantic! We don't intend to break the law, just hoping for an angle to make things more convenient as we travel.

Carl: The same with all Nat'l chains. New Fed laws have all pharmacies following the same difficult rules; rules to cut down on abuse, which is good, but it is hurting the innocent needy patients who have no intentions of abusing. ****

In the past few years, the U.S. Government has cracked down harshly on prescriptions containing controlled substances like morphine & Hydrocodone. We used to be able to acquire advance scripts from our doctors & then fill them wherever we were. Now we have to pick scripts up monthly & then have them filled at our local pharmacy, AND NOT ONE DAY EARLY! Our daughter is stuck with this job monthly & then mails them to us wherever we are; pharmacies can NO LONGER mail controlled substances. Often we have to ration while waiting for mail delivery. In past years we have been pretty much stationary at one park for months at a time, but now we are planning extensive trips to various parts of the country, which will provide some prescription predicaments. Our doctors & pharmacy don't have any answers for us, so we wonder if anyone might have some suggestions to improve upon this predicament we, and I'm sure many others have. Thanks in advance, everyone!!

I am grumpy, too! Received the FCA mailer & have no idea what to do next. Have towed ourCherokee nearly 4000 miles without an issue. Think we will follow "if it works, don't fix it" for now. Plan to visit with our dealer about it, to see what they know, but for now plan to just wait & see. Maybe things will get clarified eventually & Jeep will know exactly what to do, AND cover the cost.

State Park is awesome. Luxury RV nice too, but if you have a dog stay elsewhere....sand burrs are prolific!

Thanks rossboyer, thought your suggestion might be the answer. Unfortunately I could not locate a GFCI in any of the storage bins either. So still stuck. But tonight the RV park is having a fish fry/potluck where 3-4 electricians will be attending.Never like bothering people during their off time, but gonna do it anyway

I have a similar situation, with the section of outlets not working being in the kitchen plus the exterior outlet. Have GFI in the bath which is OK and all breakers check out OK. The is no GFI in the kitchen area, or at least I can't find it. So I located the Inverter, only to discover it has been hard wired, with the breaker & GFI outlet removed. Now don't know what to do next.(Xantrex 1800 Invereter)!! Any advice will be appreciated. ****
