Hi, I'm not sure how long yo have been RVing but we have been for over 35 years now. My work takes me all over the country, and we have met hundreds if not thousands of people on the road. The RV community holds whit I consider the nicest peope on earth. We are usually among the youngest at a rally and 35 years ago were probably the youngest ever to travel by motot home. We were always greeted and accepted at any rally or convention. Don't let age or race become an issue. If your travels take you to the Pennsylvania area, feel free to contact me. You and your wife are welcome to visit and stay at our home. Paul & Carol

Ambly N. I spent quite a bit of time trying to locate a small leak in the front of our coach. I finally removed the defroster hose and taped it to the end of my leaf blower. With the windows and door closed and the leaf blower on, I ran a garden hose over the coach and out poured the bubbles thru a small crack in the windshield seal in less than a minute. Good Luck, Paul

Towing Porche on trailer
pkendzor replied to tomgreene925@gmail.com's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Tom, I will take a picture of our flat bed tilt trailer and the make and model #, and forward it to you. As per our conversation, there were only two times I had to unhook, one in Fort Wilderness (Disney) and once in Austin, Texas. Both times we were able to park the trailer in a holding area at the campground. Paul & Carol -
Hi Jim & Mary, Welcome to FMCA and the forum. We are just headed home from the Albuquerque convention by way of Texas, New Orleans, and Memphis. This was our first convention and well worth the trip ! We joined a few chapters, made a lot of new friends and look forward to seeing them again soon. Best of luck with your new coach and enjoy your travels. Paul & Carol

Brett, We are headed south next week fo a few days and will work our way west. Looks like so far it will be just the four of us there See you in Albuquerque. Have a safe and enjoyable trip. Paul & Carol -
Dan, I got one up on you ..... Our coach just fits in the shop with the rear air bags dumped so all I have to contend with is the cold concrete floor. Just plowed the 15" of snow in front of the door yesterday and will set out skiing this weekend and then down to Albuquerque for the convention. I cut a 4" hole in the bottom of our sewage compartment and picked up a plastic flange with a 4" threaded plug to make it easier to hook up our sewer solution dump kit. That setup may work out for your access hole. Picked up at local RV center for about $6 Do you carry a baby grand with you? I'm a sax player and will probably throw it in the coach when we leave. Dan, I used round plastic junction boxes with plastic keyless fixtures like the ones used in stick house basements. I spread them out and placed them behind the plumbing where nothing will bump them. After fighting the first three to screw them down, I wised up and placed a 2" wide strip of industrial velcro on the remaining fixtures and wired them up outside of the coach reached in and stuck them in place.. The first two beat me up using the phillips screws supplied with the fixtures and bending my body into shapes it hasent seen in years. On the rest of them I picked up hex head screws and put them in with a nutdriver..... Much Easier.!! I do have two bulbs that may get bumped and I plan to pick up two of the wire guards that clamp right on the fixture. I used 14/2 romex and 2 line voltage thermostats and a 15 Amp breaker. Total draw came to 4.6 amps at 120 volts. As an added bonus............ When I dump my tanks at night, I just turn up the thermostat and can light up the Flying J parking lot ! Paul

Ron, We use our coach for weeks at a time, on ski trips, in below freezing weather. Dan's suggestion on installing a remote display thermometer is a must for peace of mind. I picked mine up at Wal Mart for about $5 We have two separate pass thru basement Compartments that contain our plumbing, and installed a remote thermometer in both. The floor duct from our propane furnace runs thru the basement compartments and the heat is radiated off of these ducts in the plumbing compartments. Keeping the thermostat on 70 F in the coach maintains a temp in our basement around 40 degrees with an outside temp down around 0 F. When it was windy I would hang a drop light with a 100 watt bulb in both compartments and run it off shore power, generator, or inverter. I suggest you consider doing the same. With the remote thermometers and two drop lights on hand you can always plug the lights in as needed. The thermometers I used are battery operated, with a Velcro attachment and about 6 foot of wire on the sensor. I placed them on the wall inside of the closet, drilled a small hole thru the floor and into both basement cabinets and stuck the sensors to the sidewall. It took about 15 minutes to install both, and well worth it ! This winter I installed three permanent 110 volt light fixtures and thermostat in each of the plumbing bays on their own circuit.. With this setup I can maintain a more even heat and with two 100 watt and one 60 watt bulbs in Each compartment I don’t have to worry about one bulb burning out. I keep the thermostats set at 50 F and they cycle on and off as needed. I can post the pictures if you are interested. Paul

I agree with Brett, and prefer to pay a modest increase rather than see FMCA go bankrupt. On the bright side, I just filled the coach tank today ... gas prices dropped in our area this week, so I already got my $ 5.00 back.

Where are you leaving from ? If you are passing thru North Carolina a tour of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville NC is nice. Paul & Carol

Herman & Bobbie, Thank You for your reply. I checked out M&G site today and it looks like a nice unit. Our coach has hydraulic brakes but I also have an air compressor and accumulator for the air bags. Their system for hydraulic brakes requires the addition of a compressor and accumulator to be installed in the coach, and I will have to look up the specs on mine to see if it meets their requirements. Again, I would like to thank you for your input. It really helps in the decision making process to hear sugguestions and opinions from experienced users. Paul & Carol

Barry & Janet, I appreciate your input on a tow bar selection. It has been over thirty years since I towed with a tow bar and they have come a long way since then. We used tow dollies in the past and currently use a flat 2 axle tilt trailer with electric brakes. Although this gives me the flexibility to haul different vehicles and toys, it is a pain to secure them and store an additional piece on a small site. Ready Brute does offer a 12 volt vac system and check valve to activate the power booster that looks simple to install. It appears the spring arrangment actuator would control the brake pressure to the toad but I am leaning more towards a system like the US Gear UTB. At one time I enjoyed testing out new concepts, but as I grow older I feel more comfortable with a proven system. So unless I receive some positive feedback from an existing customer, looks like proven is better Thank You Again, Paul & Carol

Is anyone familiar with the ReadyBrute Elite tow bar with the supplemental surge braking system built into the tow bar itself? I like the concept but didn't see any reviews on it.
