95 Monaco Dynasty Starting Issues

Recommended Posts

I am new to the FMCA family and a new /used coach owner. I am having issues getting my Dynasty to start. My first attempt to repair was to replace Allison control ECU as it wasn't lighting up. now it lights up but still no start. it will start if I jump the starter for a brief moment.

Has anyone had this issue that might be able to point me in the right direction? any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. It does sound like a bad start solenoid. Have you cleaned all the contacts/connections including the ground? Have you tried to use the switch to tie the batteries together when trying to start it?

Does the solenoid click when you try to start it.  Please provide more information on year of your MH.

41hudson6.  Welcome to the Forum and FMCA Family!

We know the year make and model. Info on engine, Allison #, like mine is a 3000.  Type of Inverter, Acid or AGM batteries and age of same.  Is the chassis and engine a 94 or 95!  That will save a lot of time for you and us. :)

Yes, welcome to the FMCA Forum.

Questions that will help you diagnose this:

1. What is chassis battery voltage when the key is turned to start?

2. With key turned to first notch (acc), do all things that should only run with the ignition on run (dash HVAC fan, for example)?

3. Exactly what does/does not happen when you turn the key to start (as Jim said, does it click)?

Thanks for all the replies, it was actually something very simple so of course I completely over looked it.

The start switch on rear of coach was in rear position not front. I did not know what the switch did and found it by accident. it started right up with no other issues. At this time at least it has sat in storage for 3 years so need to do a little clean up and maintenance but that's expected.

Thanks again guys for the help.
