thefinestperf1 Report post Posted June 1, 2017 I have a 2014 Thor Palazzo 36.1. My house batteries are weak and need to be replaced. What kind of batteries would someone recommend I replace the batteries with?
dickandlois Report post Posted June 1, 2017 thefinestperf1, Weak batteries on a 3 year old coach, makes me wonder if there is an issue with the charging system. Now, if you are asking because the coach is equipped with a residential refrigerator and the load it places on the coach batteries is one item that needs to be addressed. If they are not holding a charge and the Amp Hrs. are not what you would like. That is another item. The next question is what size, make and model inverter / charger is the coach equipped with? Pure Sine Wave or Modified Sine wave output? A little more information will help in offering some better options for you. Rich.
wolfe10 Report post Posted June 1, 2017 What batteries do you currently have (number and size)? Do you boondock, or just go from CG to CG? Are the batteries in a location where you can get to them to check water level? In other words, tell us more about what your battery needs are.
hermanmullins Report post Posted June 1, 2017 An early production 2014 coach could be close to 3 1/2 years old. As Brett said, water levels, how are they and have you ever let the level get low enough to expose the plates? If so you could have sulfated batteries. Another thing, are the sides of the batteries flat or swelled out? Another sign of batteries diterating. Have you checked all cells with a hydrometer. Lots of questions hope they help. Also check the dates on the batteries. They could be up to a year older than the coach. Herman
