RonACrow Report post Posted May 3, 2019 How do I rewire our water heater from a GC10A-3E to a GC10A-4E? The GC10A-3E has 3 wires they are Green, Blue and Brown. The GC10A-4E has 4 wires they are Green, Blue, White and Orange. What GC10A-3E wires corresponds with what GC10A-4E wires and what Do I do with the 4th wire on the GC10A-4E? I have the 3E & the 4E wiring diagrams but have no clue on what goes where. Ron Crow
richard5933 Report post Posted May 3, 2019 Welcome to the forum Ron. Are you wiring this to same remote switch as you had on the old water heater or a new one that came with the new water heater?
RonACrow Report post Posted May 3, 2019 I did not receive a new remote switch with the new water heater. I have found a website that shows the conversion and it shows using a dual switch and not using the old switch.
richard5933 Report post Posted May 3, 2019 Yeah - that was my thought, that the new water heater would require a new switch setup. Glad you found what you need. Post a few photos when you have a minute so that others doing the same upgrade will know what to expect.
dickandlois Report post Posted May 3, 2019 When replacing items, quite often there are other items that need to be replace because of wiring, plumbing and mechanical differences. What I refer to as the Domino effect ! Rich
