Dave40 Report post Posted December 24, 2019 New member here. Am considering purchase of 2018 Ford CMax Hybrid as dinghy behind a class C diesel. Do any members have experience they wish to share with respect to this vehicle. Any problems experienced? Alternative is a 2014 Honda CRV LX. Oddly, price is same. Any recommendations? wolfe10 Report post Posted December 24, 2019 Dave40, Welcome to the FMCA Forum. What Class C diesel do you have? If an MB-based chassis, the CMax may exceed its GCWR.

Wolfe10, Thanks for input. I am in market for Winnebago View 2016 or 2017. Mercedes Benz diesel. Sprinter chassis. Rated for 5000 lbs TOAD, is it not? The CMax vehicle curb weight is 3,550 lbs I believe, so within the rating. Am new to motor homes, so let me know if I am missing something...
wolfe10 Report post Posted December 24, 2019 IMPORTANT NUMBERS: Trailer hitch rating GCWR: Compared with actual coach weight plus actual toad weight. Many Class C's on MB chassis are at or over GVWR. Certainly with a smaller diesel power Class C, WEIGHT is an important factor. Less important if in the eastern half of the country. VERY important if a lot of mountain grades are in your future! manholt Report post Posted December 24, 2019 Brett. Sorry, but I can think of a dozen + States in the Eastern half of the country, that has long & short grades, that's a problem in my Jeep!
