rgbblb44 Report post Posted May 10, 2022 I have a 2002 42' Dutch Star coach. The rear air stopped blowing cold. Has anyone had luck finding someone who will rebuild old units? Most dealers want to replace both Units and the cost is over $6,000.00. The duct lay out causes the newer units to be modified before installation. It requires new controls for a new unit that is not compatible with the front unit and that is the main reason they want to replace both, if they replace one it requires a special board for the older unit. hermanmullins Report post Posted May 10, 2022 Welcome To the Forum. I just had both of my two A/Cs replaced. I had 2, Dometic 15,000 BTP units with heat pumps and 2 new thermostats installed for just under $4,500.00. Love them, they did not have to rework any duct work. rayin Report post Posted May 10, 2022 (edited) $6K is outrageous IMO. Look for a different shop. As to rebuilding your old untis, I suspect you'll find the expense is about the same as buying new labor ya know. This is an example of how much a roof unit costs: https://www.rvpartscountry.com/dometic-brisk-2-air-rv-ac-15000-top-unit-white.html Two complete new units for $1,623. If you have enough help you can replace the units yourself by downloading the instructions from https://bryantrv.com/docs.html#airconditioner Edited May 11, 2022 by rayin
wildebill308 Report post Posted May 11, 2022 I don't think I would use those gold plated units. Look at these plane ones. https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-appliances/air-conditioner/air-conditioners-coleman-dometic I would also look at the Coleman Vantage Adapter kit allows you to use your existing Dometic control box, CT wall thermostat and ducting ceiling plenum to install Coleman-Mach heat pumps and air conditioners.
