NEWSTAR Report post Posted October 12, 2022 Putting our Newmar Canyon Star motorhome in unheated winter storage for the next 5 or 6 months. What should be done with the 6 volt house batteries, 6 of them? Plug in the motorhome so they stay charged or take them out? Will not have access to the unit during storage. rls7201 Report post Posted October 13, 2022 Assuming you MH has a smart charger, I would leave the batteries in the MH, disconnect switches turned on and plugged in. Check the battery water levels before storage and all should be well. Richard
rayin Report post Posted October 13, 2022 Yup,; if electric is not available, just fully-charge them then remove the ground cables, the batteries will still have 3/4 charge after 6 months- providing they are in good condition now.
wayne77590 Report post Posted October 13, 2022 Even plugged in or not plugged in, the steps will still work. Turn the steps off. There is a constant drain when the step switch is left in the on position. The trik-l-charger cannot keep up with the step drain over time. If you disconnect the batteries it doesn't matter.
