Traveling To Essex Junction, Vermont

Has anyone traveled to or planning to travel to Essex Junction this July for FMCA's 2011 Northeast Area Rally? Was wondering what there is to do there besides the factory tour at Ben and Jerry's? We also plan to go to Alexandria Bay, N.Y., to do the 1000 island boat tour. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, in advance. Lance and Alice

5) many other points of interest

Note: while at Alexandria Bay, Boldt Castle is a must see. Stay away from a campground named,"Seaway Island Resort" @ Fineview....on Wellesley Island, not good, amenities are poor to non-existant, and the hookups are very poor. A resort it is NOT !!!! There is another Cg on the island named Wellesley Island State Park and has full hookups. Most other cg are small and also leave a lot to be desired. Not much to choose from that will meet your expectations. The State Park is about the best.

I live 5 minutes from the fairgrounds where the rally is being held. You can spend days in Downtown Burlington which is on the shores of Lake Champlain. There is a Marketplace which has many nice shops and restaurants. Click on the Visitor Tab on the atached site for more information.

There is also the

1. Von Trapp property. This is the family the movie "The Sound of Music" was made after.

2. The town of Stowe

3. Countless cider mills and maple syrup mills

4. Some ski resorts have operational lifts in the summer. Great views, eat at the restaurants on the top of the mountain. Hike trails at the top of the ski lift.
