mjhamm Report post Posted November 12, 2011 My 2000 Pace Arrow developed a gas leak at the flexible hose connector between the gas tank and the filler cap. The replacement fuel flex line is very tight and difficult to push onto the gas tank filler neck. Is there any issue with using hot water to make the flex hose more pliable or does that compromise the integrity of the hose? Would it be OK to use a lubricant (either something special or maybe simply Vaseline)? Or is it just a matter of twisting and pushing until it works? wolfe10 Report post Posted November 12, 2011 Heating in hot water-- hot bath temperature will not harm the hose. And, since this is a hose designed for fuel (verify that!), petroleum products should not harm it. A little ATF or oil should ease the hose onto the filler neck if heating alone does not work. desertdeals69 Report post Posted November 24, 2011 In situations like this we use a heat gun, which is a industrial version of a hair dryer, and heat the hose until pliable enough. Also spray with WD 40 helps. Be sure the hose is the right size. The id has to be the od of the flat part of the tubing so that the barb is slightly larger.
