edraff Report post Posted May 23, 2012 I mistakenly put 2.3 gal. on gasoline in my diesel motor home. The tank holds 90 gallons. The tank was half full when I put in the gasoline. After I realized what I did, I filled the tank with diesel. I drove the MH a little over 300 miles didn't notice any effects. The tank is around half full. I was thinking of filling full with diesel again. Chassis was built in 2006 and has a Cat C7 engine. Any advise.
wolfe10 Report post Posted May 23, 2012 Unlikely you did any damage with that small a concentration of gasoline. I would fill up again now to further dilute the gasoline.
RVerOnTheMove Report post Posted May 23, 2012 Do diesel and gas actually mix or is one floating above the other? Since diesel weighs about a pound more is it like oil and water? It mixes while driving and then the gas floats to the top?
wolfe10 Report post Posted May 23, 2012 Bill, They do mix. In fact, in really cold country, gasoline used to be added to diesel in winter for tractors.
