Fan Belt Needed if Not Running Dash Air Conditioner?

If I'm not using my dash air conditioner, can I just go ahead and take the fan belt off the A/C compressor at the engine?

I don't know what engine you have, but if the belt ONLY runs the A/C you can remove it. Obviously, if it runs other accessories such as alternator or water pump, you can not.

But, if your A/C system is in good condition, you should run it occasionally to keep the seals lubricated.

Most newer engines actually run the AC system whether or not you are cooling the air. All defrost air, heat air, and ventilation air is "conditioned" to remove moisture, and a secondary benefit is to keep the seals lubricated.
